I finished Origin in Death by JD Robb. I am an unabashed squeeing fangirl of this series. I’m not ashamed. I say, with all seriousness, that this is my favorite series of all time. Long after I’ve proclaimed my readiness to see other favored series come to an end (Stephanie Plum and Anita Blake to name two), I cannot imagine my life without a new installment of Eve and Roarke. God bless Nora Robert’s prolific heart, I hope she continues to give me two new installments a year because I’m like a junkie and if I didn’t get my fix… I hate to imagine the lengths to which I might go. I’d hate to think I might have to start stalking Nora Roberts, but if she ever decides to taper off the In Death series… let’s just say the possibility is there
So, to say I’m not an unbiased reviewer of these books is probably an understatement. There have been books in the series I’ve thought are weaker than others. But I’ve never actively hated any of the books. And I don’t understand the people who say they hate the series. What??! Okay, just goes to show how subjective reading is (as I told my friend Jaci today during an IM conversation).
All that said, I loved this newest installment of Eve and Roarke’s story. I adore watching the characters grow and change in their relationships. And I thought Nora Roberts aka JD Robb did a fabulous job with the story line/plot/mystery in this book. She presented an interesting ethical/moral question and twisted the knife in my heart a bit at the end. I was definitely weepy. I’m a sap, what can I say?
Fans of this series are going to enjoy this book just as well, if not more, than the previous several. If you’re a fan of romantic suspense, long running series, and a central cast of characters, but you’ve never tried JD Robb (umm…Bree…hello?) then I highly recommend you pick up the first, Naked in Death, and start reading. You’ll be hooked!
My grade: A (after all that gushing, did you expect anything less?)
