I’ve been smacked!

And I even asked for it! This blog, I talk too much, is one of my guilty pleasures. I visit every day to see whose dreams of blogging greatness they’re crushing now. People submit their own blogs for these bitches (no, I’m not calling them names, they refer to themselves as such) to review and [...]

But it’s something that’s been on my mind and hey…that’s what my blog is for, right? I am not what I would consider a religious person (although I would argue that I’m a spiritual person). I was raised in a not-very strict Catholic environment. I went to Catholic school from Pre-k to 3rd grade and [...]

Is my tongue bleeding?

I know I’m not the only one who does this, but I wonder if I do it more often than most people because I have a hot temper and a nasty sense of sarcasm. I bite my tongue- a lot- to keep from starting a war of words that can only turn ugly and cause [...]

Just because I feel the world should know: I went to Barnes and Noble tonight and ordered a Peppermint Mocha to sip on while I wandered around. Oh my yuummmm. Sip hell! I think I guzzled that drink. I highly recommend a Peppermint Mocha for adding to the adrenaline crazed edge of holiday shopping. Because, [...]

Yes, it’s been a week since my last post. I’ve been busy learning though! 1. Blog entries only count if you actually finish and then Publish them. 2. Social engagements breed social engagements: I can have nothing to do for weeks, but let me schedule one thing and two more things will pop up in [...]

Normally, I don’t talk much about writing or rules. I don’t write (except in my blog) but I do work in the industry. And it has recently become fascinating to me how different people have different absolute “rules” for writing. I had the opportunity to see three people (in addition to the author and editor) [...]

I have to do WHAT!?

I got a phone call today as a reminder. My echocardiogram and stress test are scheduled tomorrow for eight in the morning. I have the mother-in-law all lined up to babysit and I haven’t thought too much about it. And then they called. Very pleasant lady and she says the echo is for eight, the [...]

Nyah, nyah, nyah…

Never let it be said that I’m above doing a little gloating! Today I recieved in the mail, from Dorchester, an ARC copy of Shadow Touch by Marjorie M. Liu. It’s the follow-up book to her debut novel, Tiger Eye. I enjoyed Tiger Eye and have been looking forward to Marjorie’s next release. I know [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
