May TBR Challenge

It’s time for sign-ups for the May TBR challenge.


This month’s challenge was originally to read something from your TBR pile that has some sort of military, police, etc theme in honor of Memorial Day. I decided I didn’t like that challenge because it was too restrictive, so this month’s challenge is two themes. The one I just described OR an ebook/book that originally appeared in ebook format. That goes nicely with all the talk we’ve had of ebooks and them not getting enough reviews on blogs. This was supposed to be a theme later in the year, but it seemed timely now.

If you’re new to the TBR Challenge, here’s how it works:

In the comments, tell me that you’ll be participating in the challenge. I’ll put your name on the list of participants (now located on its own page instead of the sidebar) and once you’ve completed reading the book AND writing a review of it, come back to the comments or email me at babybookworm@comcast.net and give me the link to your review. Reminder: you can now more easily find this post by clicking on the TBR category on the sidebar. It will be the first or second post in that category.

You can write your review any way you choose, but you can also use the cheater review form below, for easier posting :) I’m also including the list of themes for the rest of the year (subject to change, of course) in case you want to see what’s coming up.

Why did you get this book?

Do you like the cover?

Did you enjoy the book?

Was the author new to you and would you read something by this author again?

Are you keeping it or passing it on?

Anything else?

Simple enough, right?

And the breakdown for this year’s challenges, unless anyone has any subsitutions they’d like to make:

May: In honor of Memorial Day; War, law enforcement, military type or something similar (even loosely related counts)
June: A book that was recommended by someone you “know” (another blogger, author, friend, family member) or got a lot of buzz and that’s why you bought it but it’s still on your TBR pile
July: Romantic Suspense
August: A non-romance book, fiction or non-fiction
September: Category Romance
October: Paranormal Romance or Fantasy
November: A book originally published as an e-book (even if you have it in print now)
December: A book published prior to 2006

Keep in mind, this is a TBR challenge, so try to find a book from your TBR pile. But if you want to participate but have to get a book to do it, that’s cool too!

    I’ll sign up–and hopefully I’ll meet the challenge this month! I had to go and pick a crappy book last month that I still haven’t managed to make it through. :cry: But it’s a new month, and I’ll do my best to make Angie proud…or at least not make fun of me on her blog. :chair:

    Count me in. I still have quite a few J.D. Robb books in my TBR pile and a few Tami Hoag books I haven’t read yet. And I have around 30-35 ebooks in a TBR file.

    LOL maybe I’ll be inspired again this month and complete the challenge multiple times.
