It’s that time again, for TBR sign-ups. July round up will be posted tomorrow. I…umm…still need to write up the book I read for the challenge. August’s challenge is to read a non-romance book. This is pretty broad, especially since a lot of great paranormals fall in this category now. If you haven’t read Working for the Devil by Lilith Saintcrow or Secret Society Girl by Diana Peterfreund, you could pull those off your…ahem…TBR pile (or the store bookshelves) and start with those.
“Rules” of the challenge after the jump
If you’re new to the TBR Challenge, here’s how it works:
In the comments, tell me that you’ll be participating in the challenge. I’ll put your name on the list of participants (now located on its own page instead of the sidebar) and once you’ve completed reading the book AND writing a review of it, come back to the comments or email me at babybookworm@comcast.net and give me the link to your review. Reminder: you can now more easily find this post by clicking on the TBR category on the sidebar. It will be the first or second post in that category.
You can write your review any way you choose, but you can also use the cheater review form below, for easier posting
I’m also including the list of themes for the rest of the year (subject to change, of course) in case you want to see what’s coming up.
Title:
Author:
Year published:
Why did you get this book?
Do you like the cover?
Did you enjoy the book?
Was the author new to you and would you read something by this author again?
Are you keeping it or passing it on?
Anything else?
Simple enough, right?
And the breakdown for this year’s challenges, unless anyone has any subsitutions they’d like to make:
September: Category Romance
October: Paranormal Romance or Fantasy
November: A book originally published as an e-book (even if you have it in print now)
December: A book published prior to 2006
Keep in mind, this is a TBR challenge, so try to find a book from your TBR pile. But if you want to participate but have to get a book to do it, that’s cool too!

:boobie: I may actually have enough books in my TBR pile to make the whole month be non-romance. Yep, I will make that my own personal goal for the month, all non-romance.
:bdance: I have a book that’s been in my tbr for six years. I have never given up on this book. It’s time to shine has arrived! So yeah, I’m in.
I’m in
I have a lot of non romance books in my stack too
I’m signing up.
Most of the books on my TBR aren’t romances, so it’s easy. Not like that historicals one. :hide:
Sign me up, please!

Okay, I’ll bite. I have a paranormal book my husband bought me a couple of years ago that I’ve yet to read.
I have a couple of mysteries that will fall into this category so I’ll sign up…and hopefully get a few of those off my TBR pile.
I’m in!
Do we think we could make September a two part choice? Because let me tell you, I don’t own a single category romance… I am probably alone on that, but I will ask anyways.

I’m in! I already know what I’m going to read. *goodygoody*
I’m in this month!
I’m in! :bliss:
Count me in for this one too.
I can do this! Lots of non-romance in the TBR pile. :bdance:
I’m in, and I’ve actually finished the book already, just need to do the post now!!
I’m in :cheer:
I forget ot mention: Count me in as I am already reading a non-romance book.
Thanks!
hmmm, I’m going to try
I actually have Working for the Devil by Lilith Saintcrow at home and I never really read it so…
:bat: I’m in.

I’ll join in for this one Angie.
I’m in. Shame on me, I’m using this TBR challenge to motivate me to actually get started on lesson-planning for the new school year… because if I don’t sign up at Brianna’s Mommy, I might never actually read “When I Was Puerto Rican.”
Sorry, I’ve been incommunicado. But pls count me in. I’ve got several non-fics to make the challenge.
Kailana, I’m open to suggestions for an alternative if you have one in mind, since I know others don’t read category. We could do an either/or challenge next month, no problem
I’d like to try again. I have so many Fantasy books in my pile. ^^
PS. Loved Working for the Devil.
Count me in.
um. I haven’t been doing these all along, so two suggestions are a non-fiction book or a book published in 2006. Or, another one, the book you keep putting to the side for another day. Something like that.
My challenge already completed for August: Tithe by Holly Black. A YA novel.

I did do it, just forgot to post here. Actually, I read a lot of non-romance last month. All the Kim Harrison books, for instance.
