Hey, they say third time’s the charm. But really, I wouldn’t have brought it up again, except Hilary Sares, Kensington Aphrodisia editor, emailed me in regards to my July 29th post in which I stole a quote from HelenKay Dimon’s blog that she snagged at Nationals this year. Ms. Sares (looking at my stats, it [...]

Taking the weekend off means taking the next week to catch up, so excuse my lack of posting. Tomorrow, I’ll be posting an email (with permission) from Hilary Sares of Kensington, her response to reading the post where we talked about the Aphrodisia line and no guaranteed HEA. Today, I took Brianna to Picture People [...]

Had an awesome day yesterday, even though it was long. I got up at seven, was out the door by nine and Josh and I didn’t make it home and to bed until after midnight, but it was sooo worth it. Lunch with some Samhain authors and readers was a tone of fun. Cheesecake Factory [...]

I’m up early because we want to get on the road so we can stop at my in-laws and say hi to Brianna Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by and commented on my birthday post yesterday. I appreciate all the well wishes. After my early melancholy yesterday morning, I had a great birthday. [...]

Dear Brianna, Today is my 31st birthday. In years past, even last year, birthdays haven’t really bothered me, but this year, as I watch you grow and send you off to your mima and poppy’s for the weekend, it hit me how much I want to see you grow. Maybe it’s selfish, but I want [...]

Over on Writeminded the other day, Samhain editor Jessica Bimberg asked readers what makes them pick up a book. Lots of mentions of cover art catching their eye (blurb and word of mouth also). In the comments, I threw out the question wondering if cover art will keep someone from buying the book. I didn’t [...]

Me! I did! Yesterday I said I’d be holding a quickie contest to give away a couple of books. When My Bookstore and More came back up yesterday morning, I purchased two books to test the system. These are books that I edited and…um…I already have copies in five different formats on my harddrive, lolol. [...]

I’m blogging at Writeminded today, for their big celebration bash. There are prizes (as if reading my fascinating words wasn’t incentive enough). Lots and lots of prizes. And then come back here tomorrow. I’ll be doing a quickie (one day only) contest to give away a few ebooks that I bought while testing out the [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
