I’ve read the first book in the series. I’ll have to pick up a copy of this one.

Interesting review, Angie. It’s great to get an editor’s take on these books! (Remind me I said that after I see what you say about mine tomorrow! Gack!!)

Re: DEMON ANGEL. I’ve not read any of Meljean’s writing beyond her blog (which I thoroughly enjoy) but I’ve been champing at the bit for DA for like, forever! It sounds really good to me!

Previously I wouldn’t have read a book about demons (it’s just not who I am and also, because I have a wild imagination, I scare easily. What can I say, I’m a wimp!) but since in the last month I’ve read a couple, ending with Jaci’s awesome SDI, I might actually get this one.

I like a lot of dialogue in a book, but I like action too. I’m not a fan of long descriptions of scenery and whether the chairs were brown with paisley. I just don’t care unless it is an absolute for setting the scene.

This book sounds really good. I read the first book in Hot Spell and loved it. This one is on my to buy list!

    Great review Angie-
    Very balanced and thoughtful. This is one I’ll definitely have to look into. Sounds interesting. :}

I’ve seen this book talked about on a couple other blogs recently (don’t remember whose though). I still don’t know if I’m convinced to put it on my TBR list. I’ll probably have to pick it up in the store and read a few pages to see whether or not I’d be willing to buy it.

Anything with demons in the title automatically gets my interest

I’ve never read a real dialogue heavy book. Interesting. I’ll have to give this a whirl.

    Plus..it has demons.

I really like the sounds of this even though the dialogue is heavy its to be expected if it has to deal with the background of centuries
I wanna know more about Lilith & Hugh

I heard good things about the book so I might pick up a copy before I leave the States.

I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. It sounds intriguing. Thanks for the review.

I have wanted this book since I first heard of it … gawd… I can’t even remember how long ago. Quite a while though. I can’t wait until I can read it :)

Reading what you said about the slow start, I think this could be one of those books that I have to put down for a while but pick it up later to get into the story again. But I like a lot of dialogue, and the worldbuilding sounds promising. And demons are nice. Well, not nice but… :sasmokin:

Okay, I’m fascinated now! I really liked your write-up, Angie, and am looking forward to checking this book out.

And the whole dialogue thing intrigues me, probably since I have a degree in playwriting. SOOOO practical, y’know? :neenerghost:

Let’s hear it for bribery. I enjoyed Meljean’s first story in Hot Spell and would be over the moon to recieve an ARC of Demon Angel! :merry:

Okay, I finally finished my copy–it wasn’t the book, it was me.

For most part, I agree with your review. I’ll have to write my own soon, and I’m lazy, but there’s nothing new about that.

Everyone should read Demon Angel, it is an excellent book and the author is fantastic.
I am not just saying that because she is my sister. If you read the book, you really will enjoy it.
PS. Demon Moon is even better.

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
