Okay kids, hold on to your hats because this one is going to be brutal. I tried to be fair with the other reviews, but I feel I need to prove that I can be tough, even on people I love, so readers know they can trust I’m giving an honest opinion. And Jaci is one of my best friends, so who better to prove it on than her? Surviving Demon Island releases Tuesday from Bantam Dell.

Oh come on, surely that opening paragraph didn’t fool anyone? (except maybe Jaci who was probably having flashbacks to something she said to me earlier in the week and for whom payback is a bitch). I couldn’t possibly be any closer to this book except if I’d written it myself. I’ve seen this book go through revisions and rewrites. There isn’t any way I could be objective about it and I’m not going to lie and say I could. Not to say I never see flaws in Jaci’s writing (I am her editor at Samhain, after all), but I’m so proud of her for this book that what I see in it is everything that’s good and fun and amazing about it.
So here’s what I know about Surviving Demon Island that I can say objectively–the concept and story are unique. You’re not going to find anything else like it on the shelves. If you’re a paranormal romance fan but in search of something new and exciting, this is an excellent choice. I hope you’ll buy it on Tuesday and then come back and let me know how you liked it (or not, as the case may be).

I’ve already read it, too! (neener, neener) and it was FANTASTIC! Jaci hooks you on the first page and never lets go. In fact, after we traded ARCs last summer, I emailed her when I was only a few chapters into the book and could hardly contain my gushing. She writes great action, strong, believable characters, and steamy sex. And the story concept? Oh, man. I loved the feeling of LOST meets SURVIVOR . . . with demons. :sasmokin:
