Hmm, now that you point it out, I think you’re right about Paul. I simply put it down to HB being the first book of the series.

Also, did you ever hear from Richelle?

No, was I supposed to? My email hates everyone lately, though. I’m thinking of opening up communication lines via smoke signals *sigh*

    Oh yes.

Richelle was very worried. And so was I, because the Angie we know and love would never wait to reply to an email involving ARCs. *g*

I loved Hells Belles…everything about it, including Paul. I thought he was yummy. I think because Jezebel is such a strong female lead and Paul is human that it might appear she overshadows him, but it honestly never bothered me in the least.

And I was so immersed in the story and characters I never noticed the voice thing at all. It was truly a fun, fascinating read for me from start to finish. :bat:

I just got my copy a few days ago. Jackie’s doing a signing at one of our local bookstores, and I’m proud to say she’s also a local chapter member of our RWA and great fun!

I normally despise first person books, but when I read the exerpt, I was enthralled. I can’t wait to read it! :happyholidays:

Hey, Angie! Yeah, I did send you email asking if you wanted an ARC. Must have gotten lost in the vortex. Try writing me at irishdream@gmail.com, and I can send you one if you like. :)

Caitlin’s book doesn’t have a release date yet because it’s still pretty shiny and new–which is also why Caitlin doesn’t have a webpage up yet. It’s coming soon though, and from what I’ve read of Night Life so far, it’s pretty awesome.

Angie, thank you so much for the review! I appreciate your feedback, both what worked and what didn’t work. Heh, I’ll be on the lookout for excessive “sweeties” and whatnot when I review the copy edits. (You and May will cure me of this, I’m sure.)

You’ll get to see more of Paul (and a number of other HB characters, plus some new ones) in ROAD. :fire:

As for Caitlin Kittredge’s NIGHT LIFE (St. Martin’s Press, Fall 2007) — hot damn, this is a FABULOUS urban fantasy. I read the pre-edited version, and it blew me away. Uber-talented is Caitlin. (Yes, I named the witch in HB after her. Caitlin coined the term “flesh puppets,” for which I will eternally be in her debt.) Her LJ is http://blackaire.livejournal.com and she’s working to get a website.

    Thanks again, Angie!

Oh, and Angie, DEFINITELY get the SUCCUBUS BLUES ARC from Richelle.

Wow, thanks for the mention. I’ll have a web site soon, all official-like, and hopefully an official release date to go with it! I add my voice to those saying that you’d find SUCCUBUS BLUES very enjoyable.

I loved Hell’s Belles! It was darkly funny, which is sort of my favorite thing. The way she looked in the very first part of the book made it for me, then again, I wanted be an Angel when I grew up. If you know me at all, you realize that that never happened in any way shape form or fashion. I did get the hair though, for about five minutes, then it rained. *sighs*
I’m waiting on the follow up too, with dare I say, belles on?

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
