I’ve been a pretty blah blogger this week. Truthfully, I set some pretty serious work goals for myself, both for this past week and for the month of January, and I look to be on track to meet those goals. But it involves doing some serious, no goofing around, work while Brianna is at daycare and during her naps. And focusing on meeting those goals has really taken all the creative spark right out of me. Nothing left for blogging this week.
The good news is, because I’ve been working my ass off during the day, I’ve been able to shut down my computer around 9pm most nights. If you live with me, you know this is nothing short of a miracle. But that also means I’ve gotten some reading in. I finished the second Stardoc book, and though both May and Charli told me to make sure I have the third one handy before I finished (and I do have it handy) I haven’t had the urge to pick it up yet. While I thoroughly enjoyed the first Stardoc, the second was not as great for me, for whatever reason, though I did enjoy it. But that doesn’t mean I won’t be reading on, just that I’m okay with a break in between books right now.
I also read one of the Harlequin Presents that Lucy Monroe had sent to me a few months ago. She sent me six and I’d read four. I really love Lucy’s writing, even in the Presents, which aren’t always my favorite books. But Lucy is a master at creating strong characters!
Last, I read Richelle Mead’s Succubus Blues. But I’m not going to hint at that since I’m saving it for my next week of ARC reviews. Bwahahahaha. Oh, okay, just a small hint so May doesn’t harp on me for torturing Richelle. When will the next one be done, Richelle?
Last night Josh and I had a date night, which was fantastic. We haven’t had one of those in ages, so it was a lot of fun to go out to dinner and watch the Colts (my husband’s a big fan) spank the Ravens. Then we did some shopping–and picked up my wedding band which I had to have sized down from a 6 1/2 to a 5 since we bought it when I was 8 months pregnant–and went to a bar where our favorite karaoke host was playing. We didn’t get home until after midnight. But we laughed and talked all night long and it was so nice to reconnect and remember how much we just enjoy each other. I had a great time. I guess he did too since he’s still sleeping 😉
In other boring news, it looks like my in-laws will be moving in the next few months, so not only will Brianna not get to see her Mima and Poppy, but our date nights will cost more and be more infrequent, since we’ll have to hire a babysitter. We’ve been spoiled having them so close, but we knew it wouldn’t be a “forever” thing. I feel worse for Brianna, who is going to miss them terribly.
I do have a new recipe to share later and some pictures of Brianna with a book of mine that she claimed for her very own.
