Oh the best book I’ve read recently is Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank. A paranormal about a demon enforcer to becomes attracted to a human and is willing to break the rules to be with her. I couldn’t put this one down and I can’t wait for book two, Gideon, to come out this summer.
I just finished Naked in Death by J.D. Robb, and am already halfway through the second book. But I’ve been having pretty good luck with my reading most of the books I’ve read lately were very good.
I am currently reading Keri Arthur’s Riley Jensen series. I love these books. I am hooked.
I read so many books, it’s hard to define what’s good lately (more like what’s good tonight!). I have the new Kim Harrison at home on my TBR (to be read) pile and I am anticipating that it will be wonderful. But I am trying to savor it, so I will start this weekend.
Recently, I read “The Scent of Shadows: The First Sign of the Zodiac: Books: Vicki Pettersson” and I thought that it was very good. I like the deviation from the norm of Vampires, Weres, and Witches. Not that I won’t devour a book dealing with Vampires, Weres, and Witches, but it was great to see a different slant.
While typing this up I had to find an author name and saw the third in the Little Goddess series by Amy Lane. I really enjoyed the first two books, so I put in an order for the third.
I quite enjoyed Mona Lisa Awakening by Sunny. Although the second in the series as not as strong….
I could go on, and on, and on…
Thanks!

One of the best books I’ve read recently? Wild, Wicked and Wanton by Jaci Burton. Hot and fun!
Now reading Blood Secrets by Vivi Anna and that rocks, too.
I just finished Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh (and loved it) but my favorite book this month was Lover Revealed by J.R. Ward.
Lauren Dane’s “Reluctant” – fantastic book! But all of Lauren’s books are great :hips:
I finally read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman this year. Just incredible writing.
I’m not entering, since I already read On the Edge this week. I’m just here to brag about how damn good the book is. :boobie:
oh, and thank you Charli, for commenting about my book
the best book i have read recently is Demon Angel by Meljean Brook…i lurved it, as Bam says….it was very cerebral & quite a challenge….i also of course ADORED Lover Revealed….i want a Butch &Vishous sandwich…sorry….it’s too early in the AM to be so lewd isn’t it… :boobie:
It’s good that you won’t let Shannon win your contest. She is a crazy woman.
Right now she is reading a romantic comedy called Fools Rush In by Kristan Higgins that makes her totally ignore me. This is unacceptable, so I will win your contest and then point and laugh at her.
:bdance:
One of my favorites, Dean Koontz, Watchers. Love how he writes suspense. :hide:
Dean Koontz, Watchers. I like to read completely out of my genre for fun now. Love the way Koontz does suspence. :hide:
By far, the best book I’ve read in a long time, The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Hi Angie! I was happy to see you were still coming to my blog. We miss you.
:cheer: This book is AWESOME!
Give me an “A” :cheer: “W” :cheer: “E” :cheer:
Ouch….who threw that at me???? Huh??? :chair:
Jodi Picoult’s NINETEEN MINUTES.
And since Shan is a Jodi fan, too, I think that should throw extra points my way because, yes, authors are readers, too!) :exactly:
I was just introduced to Candice Proctor and read NIGHT IN EDEN which was a very good historical. I also enjoyed reading my first book by Vivi Anna BLOOD SECRETS. I think she is really onto something with the world she has created there. It was new and intriguing.
In mystery? Best book? Kindness Goes Unpunished by Craig Johnson. I literally wept when I finished it because I’ll never ever ever be able to write like that.
In romance? JR Ward’s Lover Revealed. I adore that series. Oh and I finished Try by Lily Burana which was also awesome.
On my nightstand are Robert Crais’ The Watchman and JD Robb’s latest “In Death” book…both of which I’m dragging my feet reading because of that whole – I’ll never be able to write like them feeling we writers are cursed with, or at least *I* am – and once I finish the books I know I’ll have to wait for the next installment…
Wow that is a tough one. I would say of my most recent reads it would have to be Innocent in Death. Just when you think JD Rob Can’t get better or shock and suprise you she pens this installment of IN Death. Have you ever seen one of those magicians who does the slight of hand. your looking here and then poof the amazement of the trick is over there. That’s what this IN Death does to you as a reader, you just don’t see it coming. She had you so tied up in knots over Eve and Roarke that when she has Eve solve the crime she hits you with it. And BAM you’re shocked and a little sick. Just thinking about it takes me back and I can feel the knots in my stomach from it.
Simply a great read from a great Author.
I want this book.I really want this book. Can I have this book? Please? I really really want this book.
I think I’ll come by and do this every time she has Free Book Friday.
But I don’t see Vicki’s book on her list, so Angie, you really must read Vicki Pettersson’s The Scent of Shadows.
Currently reading A Few Demons More by Kim Harrison (eReader) – yes I am one of those freaks who will pay HC prices for an eBook by a great author. It’s fabulous.
Just finished re-reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand and there is a scene in there that haunts me every time. Howard (and yeah that’s one of the reasons why I used the name in my own book) is literally haunting the halls of his “Unfinished Symphony” the Aquitania, a hotel that he designed, but construction was stopped after the stock market crash killed the money building it. The night watchman lets him in night after night, and one night he stops him on his way out and says, “You know, I had a son once — almost. He died before he was born.” The narrator says the watchman didn’t know why he said that and Howard didn’t answer but they shared that moment. Rand doesn’t overtly state that the unfinished building was to Howard what the unborn son was to the night watchman. She doesn’t make a case for equivalence. She simply allows that two people understand the mourning of another and what it means, each in their own way. Writing like that should never go out of fashion.
Having said that I realy want Shannons’ book. Spring break is coming up so …
The Nymph King by Gena Showalter was awesome! I loved it. I loved reading more of the world of Atlantis as Gena sees it.
I just finished Karen Rose’s book I’M WATCHING YOU. It was an awesome thriller I couldn’t put down.
I read ‘The Perfect Stranger’ by Alison Kent recently and loved it. Also read ‘Kiss of Midnight’ by Lara Adrian which is a fabulous paranormal
Oh, I loved 72 hours – cannot wait for this one!
Best book in the last month or so? Hmm, there are a couple…Kiss Me Deadly by Susan Kearney, Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian, The Last Thing I Expected by Heather Rae Scott. Geez, I’m all over the map with my genres. I finished Wild, Wicked and Wanton last night and I’m still blushing, so that’s my pick for erotic romance. Um,
what was the question again? LOL
Dangerous Game by Christine Feehan.
One of the best books I’ve read recently was an anthology by Beverly Barton, Wendy Corsi Staub and Lisa Jackson – Most Likely To Die. Loved it!
I just finished Shannon Butcher’s No Regrets, definitely one for the keeper shelf.
 One of the best books I’ve read in a long time is Without A Sound by Carla Cassidy published by Signet Eclipse. I’m finishing it up right now and it’s FABULOUS. Great suspense and I STILL don’t know who done it… and though I’m sorely tempted, I won’t peek. GREAT suspense, wonderfully written. :thanks:
Great recent read for me was COLTERS’ WOMAN by Maya Banks…read that in the last few days and just loved those Colter men!
The book i recently read is Just like Heaven by Marc Levy in French. It is a great book that makes you think about life in general.
Don’t Scream by Wendy Corsi Staub. It’s an ARC, but will go on sale April 27. My review of it is supposed to post at FMAM in April.
I loved the main characters and the Hitchcock-like twist at the end. Superb.
Another excellent book was The Stolen Child by Keith Donohue.
Ahh…so many wonderful books. I am so, so glad I ate all my carrots as a kid.
:chicken:
I have to mention two: Elizabeth Vaughan’s Warlord and Megan Hart’s Dirty. Warlord was a satisfying conclusion to this wonderful trilogy, although I still want more! And I wish I remembered who to thank for their recommendation of Dirty. A very unusual but absorbing read.
Lover Revealed by JR Ward.
I finished this book right before I went into labor with Isabella. Loved it. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
Got to pack to go to MILs, so no time to read all the comments till I get back.
I have to say Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison.
Complex world building, a kick butt, vulnerable heroine and a parnormal supsense thriller without a romance. Kept me glued to the page and I am so planning to pick up the next installment.
Hmmm…..that’s a hard question, Angie!! I’m really enjoying The Imperfect Proposal by patricia Cabot, but I haven’t finished it, so that doesn’t really count.
Steelflower by Lilith Saintcrow and Feral by Nathalie Gray
(I’m copying this from my blog)
Any Bitter Thing by Monica Wood. Wonderful
Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts
Nauti Boy by Lora Leigh
Scratch that- A Few Demons More by Kim Harisson has a sad, sad ending. Remember when Dumbledore died? Yeah. Like that only worse.
Okay, only a bit late, I picked a winner.
Congratulations to Rosie, who will get her very own copy of On the Edge
Next week’s giveaway will be for Tamara’s Spirit by Nicole Austin.
Congrats, Rosie! I hope you enjoy it. :cheer:
