It’s in the 60s here and both Brianna and Oliver have gotten to go outside and enjoy the great weather. I’m not cooking today. It’s only the three of us this year and Josh and Brianna are happy with just turkey and mashed potatoes (and maybe some green beans). I, on the other hand, want [...]

And a 32 year old. So you’re wondering what this is, right? It’s something Target has. You do this and you get entered for one of thousands of $25 gift certificates. Brianna and I were both amused. You too can play.

Stet. Did I do this one already? I’m too lazy to look but I don’t think I did. When I send authors edits, most especially final line/copy edits, I ask them to 1)not delete the line editor’s comments and 2) if they’re not going to do the suggested change, just put a “stet” in a [...]

Thanks to everyone who posted/emailed their well wishes for Oliver. After he spent the day at the vet yesterday, he’s back home now. The vet was very pleased with how well he responded to treatment yesterday, so Oliver even got to come home a few hours earlier than expected. Of course, he was sent home [...]

This past weekend I did quite a bit of sewing, considering I hadn’t had my sewing machine out in almost 2 months. Saturday, I had a baby shower to attend for 4 women, and I wanted to put something cute in the baskets for them. So I made frog softies on Friday night. They’re not [...]

I know, bad blogger. I have a post started with a recap of last weekend (I attended a conference) but my blogging motivation has been sadly lacking this week. I have the blahs, which is a combination of my job stress, Josh’s job stress. the time of year and something else I’ve been dealing with. [...]

Special hat tip to Jaci for telling me about these and giving me the links because she knows I’ve been loving on some Harlequin books lately (because they’re easy to read in an hour at night in bed). You can download two free Harlequin Mini’s at Fictionwise right now. Both come in between 10-12k (just [...]

We’re looking for your logo and catch phrase ideas! Samhain Publishing is looking for both graphic logos as well as “just word” catch phrases to use on our marketing and promotional items. That’s the sound of…hm. The hotel room fan running. I’m attending the Chesapeake RWA conference this week just outside of Norfolk, Virginia. I drove down this afternoon (with a short detour through Virginia Beach to stop at Borders). Now I’m all alone in my hotel room. On my king bed that someone else made. In [...]

And it said “omg, Angie, I just got offered a contract with Berkley Heat.” To which I immediately replied, “omg, omg, omg that’s so awesome. Yay yayy!” with lots of exclamation marks (which means you know that I thought it was awesome because anyone who reads this blog knows that you’ll die once you use [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
