Comments on: Do you comment?

I never said anything about responding to each comment. In fact, I flat out said I wouldn’t be doing that. But I think there’s a difference between only answering a question, and participating on your own blog.

I don’t always comment back to responses left on my blog. Questions, yes, I try to answer all of them. Or if a comment makes me think, strikes me as funny, that sort of thing, I comment.But each one? No. It can get too time-consuming and responding to each one just doesn’t strike me as the best use of my time when I could be working on a book…. or procrastinating about it.

I respond to all comments when I put up a new post. I feel that if someone takes the time to comment on my blog, it behooves me to respond. Otherwise, I’d just turn off comments. I don’t bother commenting on blogs that don’t respond unless it’s something I just have to say. I think it’s all part of having a blog. Unless I get hundreds of comments and it becomes unfeasible, I respond.But I came here to ask you if something’s wrong with Samhain/MBAM or if there’s a new policy? I wanted to buy a book before the day ended so I could still get last week’s new release discount but the site keeps asking me for a username and password. My MBAM username and password doesn’t work. Just a heads up if you don’t know about this. And if you do, a complaint b/c if I can’t browse or access MBAM, how can I buy? Thanks!

I had no idea this topic would draw so much interest! Or that there were so many bloggers who were so much better than me at returning comments. Okay, actually most everybody is better than me (except the ones I was complaining about, lol).

I do have to say, I really like LiveJournal’s set up in that way, that the person being responded to always knows, though there are other things about LJ I don’t love as much.

I do try and comment back to most of the comments on my blog. Even if it's with just a short thank you. Otherwise I feel like I'm being rude. I'm nowhere near perfect though and often think no one sees it because how many really look back? Kwanas last blog post..Summer Monday

I used to comment often at my own blog, but then I started wondering how those original commenters would know I’d replied to their comment unless they came back? My blog isn’t high-traffic, and I’ve certainly tried to watch what I say now that I’m an editor.

That’s why I like my LiveJournal blog (of course, it’s friends only). I know when someone has commented and they know when I’ve responded to them.

I comment back on my own blog, but I think that’s because Livejournal makes it so much easier to do that, especially since it lets the original commenter know that they have a response. Unless there’s a good discussion in the comment section or I’ve asked a question I’m hoping will get answered, I rarely revisit a blog post to look at comments made after mine.
