I voted weeks ago when Early Voting opened in NC. Spent the last few days working the campaign as Canvas Captain for three precincts.

  2. Stephanie S. November 4, 2008 at 12:13 PM #

I voted early here in NC on Saturday. I can remember when I was younger and my mom let me cast the votes for her on election day. It’s a memory I always cherish.

I’m working and can’t get out to vote so I did absentee ballot and sent it in last week. I’m gonna be glued to the TV today. I hope people come out in droves.

  5. lys November 4, 2008 at 12:50 PM #

I was in line at 6:45am today and it only took me about 45 minutes to vote. I was pleasantly surprised, since I heard on the news that it’s a record year for people coming out to vote.

My husband and I went out and voted on Friday, the last day of early voting in Houston. Have you heard of curbside voting? Was new to me.

  7. Crystal B. November 4, 2008 at 1:20 PM #

I voted. Not a long wait here.

  8. Judy Cox November 4, 2008 at 1:20 PM #

My daughter and I went early this morning and voted. If I don’t do it when I get up, I put things off. We had several runoffs from the October vote, so we definitely wanted to make sure we did.

  9. Kristin M. November 4, 2008 at 1:30 PM #

I voted! I took my son to the polls and we only had to wait 15 minutes! It is a good feeling, democracy in action.

  10. Larena Wirum November 4, 2008 at 1:30 PM #

    I voted.

  11. Renee November 4, 2008 at 1:33 PM #

I voted. I even got up at 4:15 to take my shower and get ready to go to work so I could be there by 5:30 am.

  12. Karin November 4, 2008 at 1:35 PM #

I voted by mail-in ballot and turned it in to City Hall yesterday. Now it’s just time to wait on the results.

  13. KathrynS November 4, 2008 at 1:44 PM #

I voted by absentee ballot three weeks ago!

I just got back from voting. I’m way out in the country where it’s quick and easy to vote and you know most of the precint workers. LOL

Thanks for the great contest. I just discovered Meljean recently and am intrigued by the sound of this series.

  25. Lori Susan November 4, 2008 at 4:20 PM #

I just have to share my story… my 7 year old went with me and we did the electronic screen too so she placed her vote for Obama (under Mama’s watchful eye). So in the car after I told my daughter she placed a vote for the man who might be the first black US president. She was surprised and said she thought Abraham Lincoln was black. I asked her why she thought that and she said because all the boys named Ibrahim at her school are black.
God, I love having a kid!

  26. Rhonda November 4, 2008 at 4:34 PM #

I voted. I took my mother, so she didn’t have to drive and park. It’s the first time I’ve ever been to vote that we had to have people directing traffic! I didn’t take my three year old, maybe next time, she’s still a bit too um… wild 🙂

  27. Dawn November 4, 2008 at 4:35 PM #

Voted by absentee for Alaska a while ago.

  28. Pamk November 4, 2008 at 5:04 PM #

    I voted

  29. Ann November 4, 2008 at 5:49 PM #

I voted, and for the first time in the three presidential elections that I’ve been in VA for, I actually had to wait in line. Over an hour (other sites had lines of 2 hours at one point).

  30. Dianne Fox November 4, 2008 at 6:00 PM #

I voted! They’re predicting a 70% turnout for my state.

  31. Bev Stephans November 4, 2008 at 6:08 PM #

I voted by absentee ballot 2 weeks ago!

  32. Bonita B November 4, 2008 at 6:50 PM #

I voted absentee last Tuesday. For a while I was afraid I would not be able to vote in the presidential election because I had moved out of state 2 months before hand. It would have been the first time since I have been eligible to vote that I had missed (and I have been eligible since 1976). Luckily, my daughter decided to go home to visit and I was able to go with her and cast an absentee ballot in my home state.

  33. Michelle B November 4, 2008 at 7:09 PM #

I voted!  I got an early ballot, but had to take it in to the polling place today since I was worried about it getting there in time. And I reminded all of my students to vote as well 🙂

  34. Cari Quinn November 4, 2008 at 7:11 PM #

What a fabulous contest! I’m new to this blog, but it looks like  a fun place to be. :)I voted bright and early this morning. Wild horses – or broken machines – couldn’t have kept me away.

  35. Jen November 4, 2008 at 7:16 PM #

    I’m jealous.

I was SO pissed that they’d run out of “I Voted” stickers before 10 a.m, esp. since they’d run out of them for the Primary too. Petty, ain’t I?

  36. Ali November 4, 2008 at 7:44 PM #

I did early voting last week… in fact, I did the same thing you did and let the Brat, my 6yr old sis, help me vote and push the buttons 🙂

  37. Wandering Chopsticks November 4, 2008 at 8:36 PM #

I’m a permanent absentee voter, but sometimes I drop off my ballot on election day. When I saw that lines were 2 to 4 hours long for early voting, I made sure to mail mine in.Someone suggested bringing along toys or books to keep kids occupied while you’re waiting in line. Sounds like a great idea to me!

  38. Sindee November 4, 2008 at 8:47 PM #

I voted. And being such a klutz where ballots are concerned, I actually did not spoil my ballot. Yay!

  39. april s November 4, 2008 at 8:58 PM #

I stood in line for 4 hours this morning and got my vote in…and then I went and celebrated with a big breakfast 🙂 From what I understand here in MO , its been very busy at all the polling places. I have to get up for work tomorrow early so I will try to make it as late as possible for the exit polling tonite!!!

  40. Maura Anderson November 4, 2008 at 9:58 PM #

My county is all mail-in ballot so I voted last week.

  42. Zara November 4, 2008 at 10:10 PM #

I voted! I had to wait until afternoon, because I had a sick child home and had to wait for the hubby to stay with her. But I voted. The lines here were fairly light even in the afternoon. I was shocked by that. Have a great night all!

  43. Stacie Mc November 4, 2008 at 10:11 PM #

    I voted

  44. Crystal Dee November 4, 2008 at 10:20 PM #

    I voted on Friday.
My oldest was of age to vote this year, but messed around and didn’t get registered. I couldn’t believe it. I told her grandparents to make sure they razzed her about it. She tried to complain about all the campaign ads and I told her she didn’t have a voice in this country so she wasn’t allowed to complain to me at all anymore. The complaint box will reopen upon registration to vote.

I guess that makes me Evil mommy- evil ex-wife.

  45. Allyn Daniels November 4, 2008 at 10:43 PM #

    Voted. Yay!

  46. Martie Hoover November 4, 2008 at 11:17 PM #

Of course, I voted. 6:30am to make sure nothing happened to prevent it. Thanks for encouraging everyone to vote, for whoever!Martie

  48. Caffey November 5, 2008 at 2:03 AM #

Hi all! I went and voted as soon as hubby came home from work. Lucky ours was open til 9 P.M. I was about to take a cab if he didn’t get home in time! I remember bringing my children when they were younger to vote too! I think it really showed them how important it was to do it as they do today! They really look up to their parents! Love the sticker she got!

  49. Lori T November 5, 2008 at 2:39 AM #

I voted today…or depending when this posts it could be yesterday.

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
