Wow, look at you getting all gifty. COOL!

  2. Angie December 1, 2008 at 9:20 pm #

I think I should start entering (and winning) some contests, don’t you? :P

  3. Kristen December 1, 2008 at 9:24 pm #

Well, poo. I can’t find the one on Dana Marie Bell’s website to save my life. I found the little banner thingy for the contest, but no Kindle graphic with her book cover.

  4. Kell December 1, 2008 at 9:35 pm #

Can anyone help me with the link for Sela Carsen in the Kindle #2 contest? I’ve clicked on the link from both my desktop and my laptop but all that keeps coming up is that it can not be displayed.

  5. Amanda December 1, 2008 at 10:14 pm #

I’m having the same problem with Sela Carsen’s website. I’m getting internal server error.

  6. Angie December 1, 2008 at 10:22 pm #

Sela must be having server errors. Maybe the contest overloaded her bandwidth!

  7. Kell December 1, 2008 at 10:29 pm #

Hopefully it gets fixed soon! It’s the only title I need to find for the 2nd contest. I’m still looking for a couple on the 1st contest.

Kristen, On the fist go I couldn’t find the one on Dana Marie Bell’s website either. So, I started looking the for other titles and then went back. I wanted to smack myself when within seconds on the second go I found the title. LOL!

  8. Angie December 1, 2008 at 10:35 pm #

The contest is open for 12 days, so you have plenty of time to enter, no worries!

  9. Danielle A December 1, 2008 at 11:17 pm #

    sounds like fun! I’m excited!

  10. Dina December 1, 2008 at 11:30 pm #

Sound fun, will try to do it tomorrow. :)

  11. Tricia December 2, 2008 at 12:39 am #

    I did find Dana Marie Bell’s …look in… the excerpts…

  12. Beau December 2, 2008 at 12:47 am #

Sela Carson’s website is down as of 9PM central time.

  13. Tricia December 2, 2008 at 1:39 am #

I can’t find the one for Deidre Knight…eight there isn’t one or it’s Parallel Fire…did anyone find one on hers?

  14. Tricia December 2, 2008 at 1:39 am #

That was either there isn’t one for Deidre Knight or it’s Parallel Fire…could someone help? or hint?

  15. Danielle A December 2, 2008 at 1:46 am #

Ya I’m having trouble with Sela Carson’s link on Kindle #2… it’s the only one I need…

  16. Ellen Lopes December 2, 2008 at 2:40 am #

I appreciate you having a contest, but to be honest, this contest is really out there. I enter contests all the time, and I have never seen one this difficult period. Some of these authors sites I have went thru every link twice or more and can’t find the kindle icon period. It should not be so hard. And like another commentor made,a few of them are not easily navigating and I have gotten errors and such.Lose everything I have and have to start over. Whoever wins this thing, more power to you, sweetie, cuz I just can’t justify giving it more time than the hour I already have.

  17. Debra December 2, 2008 at 4:14 am #

    Have a wonderful Holiday everyone!!!

  18. Kell December 2, 2008 at 5:29 am #

Tricia, I found it last night and wanted to recheck to make sure that I had the right one. (answer redacted–AJ) There where a couple of sites that I couldn’t find it on the first go but when I went back I found them. Either I missed them the first time or they are disappearing and then reappearing.

  19. Danielle A December 2, 2008 at 7:11 am #

Come on people! You just gotta keep looking… if you need a break then take a break and come back to it trust me it helps! It’s not that hard… these authors are putting together THIS contest for US and giving a way 2 KINDLES… 2! I’m not complaining what so ever… even if I don’t win I’m still having fun! :)

  20. Sela Carsen December 2, 2008 at 8:01 am #

OMG y’all!!! I’m so embarrassed!!! What a time for my stoopid server to go wonky on me.

Until I get my site back up and running, I’d hate for folks to miss out on their chance at this contest, so please, please e-mail me and I’ll let you know which cover you need.

My address is selacarsen at gmail dot com.

    Again, my most sincere apologies!

  21. Sela Carsen December 2, 2008 at 9:39 am #

    Update: I’m back!!

I apologize for the delay, but after a lot of time spent listening to the nice man in Tech Support tap away on his keyboard, I’m back in the game!

Again, I’m so sorry for the inconvenience, but so glad it’s fixed.

    Now y’all can play!

  22. Amanda December 2, 2008 at 9:48 am #

Yeah, I finally got the last one. All of them are on the sites. I went through both Kindle 1 and Kindle 2 and was able to locate every one of them. It takes work, but it’s for a free Kindle! You wouldn’t want them to just hand it to you, would you? Well, that would be nice, but they’re not. It’s the fun of the contest. Could someone go through the comments to make sure no one is giving away the answers? Thanks.

  23. Angie December 2, 2008 at 10:23 am #

I hope you will all understand that I’m going to delete/edit out any answer giveaways. And ignore any griping about how we chose to give away $700 in Kindles, because that would probably be enough to ruin my holiday spirit and make me wonder why I spent hundreds of dollars doing this contest.

  24. Turtle December 2, 2008 at 10:30 am #

Hey there, i have never been to your blog before. how have i missed you? bookmarked you and off to see more!

  25. april December 2, 2008 at 11:10 am #

sorry this is my first contest what exactly does the graphic look like that i need to find?

  26. Tammy December 2, 2008 at 11:40 am #

First time I”ve been here, neat site, bookmarking it.

LOVE the prizes – thankee Santa for the chance to win a Kindle!

  27. Kristen December 2, 2008 at 2:19 pm #

I found Dana Marie Bell’s right after I posted that I couldn’t. I find that’s how most things in life work. lol

  28. Kristen December 2, 2008 at 2:50 pm #

I think it’s an awesome contest. I don’t see any of the big NY houses giving away this kind of swag.

  29. KMont December 2, 2008 at 3:02 pm #

Hey there, pimped your contest today, AND am trying to find all the baby kindles across the interwebs. One contest down, numero 2 to go! And some are very hard to find (Deidre Knight, you fox, where’d you put that thing?), and I have a bit of eye strain now, lol, but it’ll all be worth it if I win, right? :D

Great contest. Keep up your holiday spirit.

  30. Kell December 2, 2008 at 3:35 pm #

I found my last one and placed my entry. I found that some where a little harder to find then others. But come on it’s a $350 prize giveaway for each contest.
There were some I had to go back for. It’s like after looking at one site for a while I got a little buggy eyed! LOL!

  31. BevQB December 2, 2008 at 6:29 pm #

    Hey ANGIE?

Question: Are there any participating authors where the Kindle/cover is found outside of their site? By that I mean, like on Facebook (provided, of course, they don’t use Facebook instead of a site), or in their Yahoo group, which we’d have to join in order to see the clue? I don’t THINK that’s asking for hints, just nailing down the contest conditions. :-D

Oh, and to those that think this is hard and frustrating— IT IS! But I participated in a similar scavenger hunt sponsored by a publisher where each author’s site held a clue for a completely DIFFERENT author. EEK! I completed it only because a couple of clues for the harder ones were posted each day. And by hard, I mean some clues were buried after the jump in LJ entries from months earlier. Holy Crap! Without those clues, I wouldn’t have had a CHANCE! Although, ::whine:: I didn’t win anyhow.

Now, if any of the authors for this contest happened to want to post a hint or two in an easy to find spot (some already have ::kisskiss::), I’m sure they would win our unending lurve and loyalty.

    Just sayin’ ;-D

  32. CindyS December 2, 2008 at 6:36 pm #

Found out about the contest at Book Binge today.

Don’t let anyone take your spirit away cause I so love hide and seek contests and you have given us plenty of time to look. Sure I can’t find them all right now but I know I’ll kick myself when I finally do find them.

I appreciate you even giving us a chance to win such an awesome prize. I have an E-reader so I shouldn’t play but you made it too much fun for me not to try ;)

    CindyS

  33. Angie December 2, 2008 at 7:09 pm #

Thanks Cindy. I have three ereaders, you can never have too many ;)

Bev, all of the icons are on their websites. I saw them all with my own eyes before the contest started.

Carolyn, lolol. Well, there’s the trilogy, plus the sequel. The 5th one (which I’m reading now) is actually an anthology collection that fills in some side stories that are mentioned in the trilogy, but not expounded on. The 6th is the same characters.

Then, there’s Shadow Queen which releases in 2009, same world, whole new set of characters. I have an ARC, which is the whole reason I decided to re-read and catch up. Plus, it fills my last TBR challenge requirement!

  34. Jeanne B. December 2, 2008 at 7:27 pm #

OK. I’ve found all of Kindle #1′s author titles. But I’m lost trying to find Jaci Burton’s and Sloan McBride’s. I’m on a Mac using Firefox… s’pose that has anything to do with it?

  35. Jeanne B. December 2, 2008 at 7:55 pm #

Never mind. I found them all.

  36. Tammy December 2, 2008 at 8:17 pm #

Found 9 of the ones on the first contest. Think I’ll take a break there and work on the second contest.

Great contest Angie – hard yeah, but worth it!

  37. Tricia December 2, 2008 at 8:32 pm #

Do you suppose that because I am on dial-up I can’t find the Kindle on Deidre Knights site? I have looked at every single thing and it’s just not there….if that’s the problem I’ll have to go to a friends house and see if I can find it. Sighhhhhhhhhh

  38. BevQB December 2, 2008 at 8:46 pm #

You know what’s REALLY funny about these comments? Most author sites that someone else said they absolutely can’t find the Kindle/cover on are ones I DID find (Yes, including Deidre Knight’s).

But the ones that are giving ME headdesk moments don’t seem to be a problem for anyone else!

Well, at least it reassures us that they CAN be found and Angie isn’t punkin’ us. ;-p

  39. Krissi December 2, 2008 at 9:55 pm #

It took a couple of hours but I found them all for both contest. Some were a little harder then other’s to find. Some of the Authors had fun making sure you went through every single link before you found it. I would do that too if I was them. Others, thank goodness made it very easy to find. This was like an Adult version of where’s Waldo. It was fun.

  40. Tricia December 3, 2008 at 2:45 am #

Yeah! I found all of them…the last one was a hard one! Thanks to all who answered my pleas….

  41. blondeely December 3, 2008 at 3:16 am #

Alexis Fleming is a tricky one. I swear, I’ve spent 1 1/2 hours on her site alone. It’s probably just staring me in the face and I can’t see it. Ok, off to look some more! Great contest!

  42. blondeely December 3, 2008 at 3:17 am #

hahah, ok, just checked again and found it. I realized my computer had simply not been posting the graphic. Probably just a connection issue. It was there all along.

  43. Kimberley C December 3, 2008 at 12:06 pm #

WOW what a great contest….Of course I’m two days late, but better late than never…I’m off to finds the icons.

  44. rae December 3, 2008 at 5:02 pm #

I’m not the only one who can’t find a thing on Jaycee Clark’s site am I?

  45. Tammy December 3, 2008 at 5:51 pm #

it took me awhile rae, but I finally found Jaycee’s. It IS there.

  46. Tammy December 3, 2008 at 6:08 pm #

The ones I’m having trouble with is Alexis’ as well as Biana’s and Eve’s.

It’s probably my comp not loading all the graphics – but if anyone wants to give a teeny hint – thanks!

  47. Tammy December 3, 2008 at 6:09 pm #

That was supposed to read Bianca’s. Sorry

  48. Kathleen MacIver December 3, 2008 at 11:44 pm #

This might be a stupid question, but I honestly am not sure here, and I’ve read the rules three times…

When it says, “Lauren Dane’s book cover,” does it mean the book cover that is on Lauren Dane’s site? Or does it mean the book cover for Lauren Dane’s book (which happens to be on Victoria Strauss’s site)?

  49. Kathleen MacIver December 3, 2008 at 11:46 pm #

Never mind… I got confused, seeing that both authors have books called “Sleight of Hand.” Grrr…. It looks like most of them are their own books anyway.

  50. GladysMP December 4, 2008 at 3:15 am #

How does one enter the daily contest? I don’t have time to spend hunting icons. I tried but it was too time-consuming.

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
