Only one more day after this! Can you believe it?
Every day from now to December 12th, I’ll be posting a new contest on my blog to win that day’s prize. Your entry is only good for that day. To win the prize for any other day, you’ll need to come back and enter again.
The grand prize at the end of the 12 days of Holiday Hell Contest is two Kindles, to be awarded to two lucky winners who have entered the Kindle drawings (which are seperate from the daily drawings. Entry into the daily drawings does not enter you into the Kindle drawings).
The fine print: You can win one of the daily Holiday Hell prizes and still be eligible to win the Kindle. You must complete the entry form for each daily contest entirely, double checking that your name and mailing address are correct because this is what I’ll use to mail your prize. If your prize comes back to me due to an incorrect mailing address, you forfeit your prize. Prize winners will be drawn before the end of each day following the contest (ie Day 1’s prize winner will be drawn before the end of Day 2) and will be announced on my blog. Kindle winners will be drawn and announced here on December 13th. All prizes will be mailed by December 20th.
Only one entry into each drawing per household/IP address. Duplicate entries will be deleted and entrants will be disqualified.
International entries are welcome and I will mail overseas, but will not guarantee receipt by Christmas as it will go by dolphin due to the obscene cost of shipping overseas.
I reserve the right to modify the rules at any time.
The Day 11 prize pack is:
Samhain Coffee Travel Mug
Apron
The Write Ingredients Cookbook
Retro Lucy Lu’s Mighty Little Peppermints box
Lords of Ch’i by Ciar Cullen
Signed Sexy Devil by Sasha White
Signed Stranded by Eve Vaughn
Signed Awaken to Danger by Catherine Mann
Signed Worth Every Risk by Dianna Love Snell
My Lady Faire by Emily Hendrickson
Taken: the Spaniard’s Virgin by Lucy Monroe
I can’t stress enough how important it is to read the rules and give exactly the information I ask for, as I will disqualify your entry if it’s not correctly–and completely–filled out and I would guess maybe a fifth of them come in incomplete.
We’re going to use the comments again today. In the comments, tell me what your favorite re-read/comfort read book is. Easy!
Since we’re using the comments and not the form, don’t forget to come back and check if you’ve won so you can send me your address.
Good Luck!

An old (now out of print) romance novel by Agnes Sligh Turnbull called The Wedding Bargain. It was the first romance novel I’d ever read.
Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie!
My very favorite re-read is Phantoms by Dean Koontz…it would be Cassandra By Chance (an older Harlequin)but I have packed it away in a box and haven’t seen it lately
I have a few that are my favorite re-reads; Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Dream of Me by Josie Litton
Kiss of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning
Of Noble Birth by Brenda Novak
I have so many comfort re-reads that it’s hard to narrown down on one. Depending on what mood I’m looking for, it could be Perfect Man by Linda Howard for some chuckles, True Betrayals by Nora Roberts for a comfort read about family, Whitney, My Love for a sweet romance, or Count to Ten by Karen Rose for a great romantic suspense. But if I really have to pick just one, I can re-read Naked in Death by J.D. Robb at any time!
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Open Season by Linda Howard, I love that book and can read it over and over.
After the Night by Linda Howard or Slow Heat in Heaven by Sandra Brown
I wouldn’t have survived grade school without books! I have 3 favorites, but since you only requested one – it is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Not the most cheerful book, I’m a tad twisted I guess. I’ll let you know what the other two are if I’m lucky enough to win this time! Hah, shameless aren’t I?!! G’Night.
Outlander by Diana Galbadon
Super-comfort reads: It Had to Be You (Susan Elizabeth Phillips), and also many Georgette Heyer novels (Devil’s Cub, Frederica, Venetia, etc. etc.)
If you’ve seen me on the Samhain loop you will know my answer to this. Out of Bounds by TA Chase.
There’s ONE book I always re-read every so often (talking singular NOT of a series) and thats an older one called…
The Selkies By : Charles Sheffield and David Bischoff.
Dana
“Open House” by Elizabeth Berg
It makes me smile, it makes me cry. And it always makes me feel good.
Grace Under Pressure by Melissa Schroeder I don’t know how many times I have read it.
I’m going to go with Natural Born Charmer, SEP. The headless beaver walking down the side of the road pretty much always gets me. And then I’m hooked.
Almost any book by Linda Howard, or Once a Hero by Elizabeth Moon.
well, depending on my mood i have a couple, The Witching Hour by Anne Rice or The Hotel New Hampshire by John Irving first come to mind,
I can’t seem to pick just one book. Anything by Diana Palmer. I love how all of her characters are innertwined.
My favorite re-read/comfort book is The Lion’s Lady by Julie Garwood. I just love the H/H and there is a lot to make me laugh in the book.
Saving Grace by Julie Garwood
This is NOT EASY for me! I have so many TBR that I don’t have to go back for a comfort read! I just grab one of my FAV authors: Catherine Coulter, Julie Garwood, Jo Goodman, Mary Balogh, Suzanne Elizabeth Phillips, Johanna Lindsey, Stehanie Laurens, Christina Dodd, Susan Wiggs, Merline Lovelace, Julia Quinn and Jude Deveraux – just to name several! Hard to pick just one… but I could re-read Dancing at Midnight by Julia Quinn or The Lighthouse Keeper by Susan Wiggs and be happy! But if I always read my favs, I wouldn’t get to fit in all the new authors I have to read!
Ok, I read the Belgariad series by David Eddings. They show my fantasy roots!
Linda Howard. Any books of her (except, for some reason the last few) makes me feel good.
Oh my comfort read is a historical! THE PROMISE OF JENNY JONES by Maggie Osborne. And its a western historical. Too a couple of others too had been such a comfort read for me, lets me let go and relax and just let me and the book be.
I love rereading Robin Owens HeartMate series. Everytime a new one comes out, I go back and reread a couple of the previous ones before I read the new one, just to make it all last a little longer.
I re-read Naked in Death by JD Robb. I usually end up continuing with other books in the series once I start. They are all great but I always go back to the ones that have the strong Eve and Roake storyline within them.
The Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey. Since I was 12. Love them!
Also Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series. Fun…
I am very embarassed to say…. None! I have so many new books that I want to read that it has been a couple years since I reread anything. I am hoping to remedy that in 2009 because there are lots of books I have wanted to reread and never done so…
I have a few re-reads that I return to when I run out of money to indulge in my TBR list, but my absolute favorite is No Regrets by Shannon K. Butcher (I’ve re-read it so many times I’ve lost count!). I like all types of romance, but that one just really makes me feel comforted after stressful weeks, etc.
This isn’t part of my post in the contest, but thought I’d share in case anyone wants to expand their TBRs (as if we really need to do that anyway).
I actaully have a few re-reads that I go to now and again – here’s the short list:
By Sherrilyn Kenyon:
~Kiss of the Night
~Night Play
~Winterborn (short story)
By Cindy Gerard:
~To the Edge
~To the Brink
~Over the Line
By Shannon K. Butcher:
~No Regrets
~No Control
By Karen Hawkins:
~How to Abduct a Highland Lord
By Shayla Black:
~Decadent
~Dangerous Boys and Their Toy
By Gena Showalter:
~King of Atlantis
~Playing with Fire
~Enslave Me Sweetly
~Awaken Me Darkly
any book is a comfort – i always have one with me and my car has quite a few in it too.
Strangely i don’t re-read books often so it is not so much one book that i return to but depending on my mood i might pick a book which i know from the author or the back cover that things will not go smoothly and i get a cry.
or i might chose a thriller for an adrenaline kick.
I’m another person who never rereads because I just have too many books on the TBR pile. But, if I did, I would reread J.D. Robb or Laurell K. Hamilton since they write my 2 favorite series. Wait, add Janet Evanovich to that list too for her laugh out loud humor. She probably fits the definition more of a comfort read for me, something to lift my spirits when I need it.
Any and All of the “LOVE COME SOFTLY” Series by author Janettte Oke
I hardly ever reread a book. I have read Pride and Prejudice three times, though, so I guess that counts. I don’t watch TV reruns or movies more than once, either.
