I’ve really enjoyed reading the comments by everyone else. I’ve gotten some great ideas and had some laughs along the way. I also enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the great authors at Samhain.

AJ, thanks for all your hard work. I know it isn’t easy to run a long contest like this one!

  2. KathrynS December 12, 2008 at 11:33 am #

This is the first one I decided to enter, but I’ve enjoyed reading the last 11 days!

  3. Angela G December 12, 2008 at 11:38 am #

I enjoyed the whole thing, the prizes, the anticipation, every ones comments and plus a lot of new authors to try. Thanks!

I’ve enjoyed the festive atmosphere about this contest. I’ve been clicking on your site as soon as I would get up, so that I could mull over the question over while fixing my coffee. The questions made me think and put me much more in the holiday spirit than I was. After coffee and breakfast, then I could post. My only regret is that I did not see this contest right away and missed getting to answer the early questions. But the participation has been wonderful and it’s fun to read everyone’s comments, which I would do after I had posted my own.

Your Kindle contests were not only generous but load of fun. I enjoyed exploring the different authors’ websites, many of whom I was unaware of and many of whom had contests of their own.

And, of course, there is the anticipation of finding out who won each day. Will it be me? Dare I hope? And if I were to win a Kindle, would I regain consciousness in time to claim the prize?!!

The prizes have been most generous. Some of the prize packages had authors I had not heard of, so I would googled the name with the book you were offering to see what they were all about.

All in all, Angie, thank you for these contests. It must have been (and still is) a LOT of work for you, taking time away from writing, editing, and spending time with your family. BTW, I saw an older post where you had a picture of your daughter posted. OMG, she’s beautiful! Those eyes!! What a heartbreaker:-) Dad will have to keep the shotgun handy—or you if you’re so inclined . . .

    Julie

I like reading people’s stories. And the building of anticipation.

I like that I can come back at my leisure and share all the wisdom you guys sent. I know it sounds crazy but even though my christmas shopping has been done for well over a month, my days are so full, I only make it here every couple of days.
I’m sending baked goods to family in Florida and haven’t even started baking yet!

  7. Teresa W. December 12, 2008 at 11:49 am #

I loved how each day you provided such a wonderful list of great prizes!

  8. Debbie Kaufman December 12, 2008 at 11:50 am #

Okay, prizes are great, and I am crossing my fingers for a Kindle but, I really enjoyed being introduced to a lot of authors that I was unfamiliar with before. I also learned a lot about website set-up – an unexpected bonus! By navigating other author’s websites, I not only learned about them, but about what I want or don’t want in my site. However, the best thing was the total belly-laugh today when I read about the rum cake. I can so relate. Having just returned from the vet with one of mine, I really needed a good laugh! Thanks. I will check back regularly, even without a contest.

  9. Joy December 12, 2008 at 11:55 am #

I liked the prizes and I got to see who the “nice mommy” was along with reading some of the interesting comments.
    Happy Holidays

  10. flip December 12, 2008 at 12:04 pm #

I loved the prizes. I like reading the comments of other bloggers. I enjoyed the questions except what nice thing did you do today. Sadly, I couldn’t enter that day.

  11. Kym December 12, 2008 at 12:09 pm #

The prizes, of course. Getting to read about fellow followers in the world of romancelandia and their quirks and interests. The excitement of waiting and hoping I might have won… Everything, really.

  12. Nickie December 12, 2008 at 12:09 pm #

I’ve liked to contests & the prizes. I only got a chance to participate in one & in the Kindle #1 contest, but, it’s been fun.

  13. Stacy S December 12, 2008 at 12:14 pm #

The chance at winning some awesome prizes! I did enjoy the recipe day, definitely got some good ones from that one.

  14. Natasha A. December 12, 2008 at 12:15 pm #

Well obviously the free stuff! :) And honestly, it has improved my x-mas spirit a bit. I am feeling a bit more jolly having reflected on past christmas’.
    Thanks!
    Natasha A.

  15. Larena Wirum December 12, 2008 at 12:16 pm #

I really enjoyed the questions. They made you stop and think about things and the one day where you had to tell someone something nice was great. :-)

  16. Kristi December 12, 2008 at 12:18 pm #

I liked browsing through the author websites looking for the Kindle graphics. I had not heard of most of them, and there are a few that I would like to go back and check out some more. Some of those books sounded really interesting.

  17. 5elementknitr December 12, 2008 at 12:18 pm #

It’s been so much fun seeing what the prize packs are and what everyone’s comments and ideas have been.

    Great contest!

  18. crystal adkins December 12, 2008 at 12:32 pm #

Awww so sad it’s already over! What I liked best was sharing my thoughts lol, and reading what others had to say. I’d like to say that winning was my fav. part but I’ve yet to win *hint hint* lol!

  19. LoriK December 12, 2008 at 12:38 pm #

Aside from the great prizes I’ve really enjoyed the answers to the holiday-related questions. I especially liked reading about everyone’s favorite holiday music. It reminded me of some wonderful songs that aren’t part of the annoying 24/7 Christmas background music that plays for so many weeks.

  20. Kathy December 12, 2008 at 12:45 pm #

I found new authors and books to read. Thank you for the fun contests!

  21. Fedora December 12, 2008 at 12:47 pm #

Thanks for creating an oasis of fun in the midst of an otherwise hectic month–as others have mentioned, the prizes are always sweet, but it’s also been a blast answering the questions, and entertaining to see how others have done the same. And I learned a lot about many more authors and books to put on that to-acquire list. As if my TBR needed any more help!

  22. Serena (Savvy Verse & Wit) December 12, 2008 at 12:48 pm #

What I loved about this Holiday Hell 12 Days of Christmas is the variety of prizes and questions to enter. I just love a challenge.

I entered one of the Kindle contests and my fingers are crossed.

It also brought me to another site that is “new-to-me” and your site is great for information about paranormal books and other things. Thanks so much!

  23. Donna December 12, 2008 at 1:09 pm #

I really liked all the new book recommendations I found and the variety in the comments. Its interesting to see how differently everyone can answer the same questions and how much you can learn and enjoy.

  24. Julie Trevelyan December 12, 2008 at 1:10 pm #

The prizes…the info…and discovering all these authors I hadn’t heard of when I went on the Kindle icon search (yes, I got frustrated on several websites, but I did find them all, eventually!). I have definitely found some new authors I’d like to read…thanks. :)

  25. Tammi December 12, 2008 at 1:18 pm #

  26. Bobbi Kilbarger December 12, 2008 at 1:20 pm #

Well, aside from discovering a new blog to follow regularly, I’d say… the anticipation of wondering if soon I’ll have a new Kindle to play with. Yes I’m a techy and like my shiny toys…

Happy Holidays and Thank You for putting together this contest!

  27. Megan December 12, 2008 at 1:27 pm #

I’m still reading through all the recipes people posted, so I have to say I think that was my favorite part.

  28. Darby Lohrding December 12, 2008 at 1:30 pm #

I enjoyed getting to meet you. I also enjoyed finding some fun new simple dishes to make for the holidays. I also found many new authors to add to my tbr pile, which is always a gift. The biggest joy I received thou was in the secret hope I had each day that I might be the winner of the awesome gift pack!!!
Thanks for the fun and Happy Holidays!

I’ve enjoyed the interesting questions and answers. I love to see other’s opinions on topics. And the prizes are really snazzy too. I can’t tell you how many friends and family have their toes and fingers crossed for me in hopes of my winning a Kindle.

  30. azteclady December 12, 2008 at 1:31 pm #

I have enjoyed the variety of questions asked as well as the breadth and range of prizes offered, as well as many of the responses–funny, sweet, interesting, etc. And then there are the recipes, the music and book recommendations, etc.

Thank you for hosting the party, Angela!

  31. Dana December 12, 2008 at 1:43 pm #

While giving a much needed and creative break in the normal every day drudgeries… the contests illuminated many unknown (to us) and wonderful reading (excerpts) authors.

Thanks and Have a Wonderful Holiday Season.
(Filled w/ at least another Rum Cake)

  32. Valerie Lykes December 12, 2008 at 1:46 pm #

I really enjoyed reading the posts. The recipes people suggested were fun, I wrote down a few new names for books to check out, and it was fun to read about favorite Christmas songs.

Additionally, your prizes have been awesome and I really appreciated the tip about free Christmas songs off Amazon.

  33. cheryl c. December 12, 2008 at 1:46 pm #

It was a fun surprise to see what the prize pack was each day. I also liked that there was a variety of items in each pack. Thanks so much for hosting this fun giveaway!

  34. HM Rose December 12, 2008 at 1:53 pm #

The anticipation, by far! It’s like Christmas morning when you’re a kid, even when you don’t win. It’s just fun to see what could be won!

  35. Linda December 12, 2008 at 1:55 pm #

I liked the comment about the blanket a lady received from her grandmother that both her husband and dogs loved. On cold days when her husband wrapped up in it, the dogs made sure they got to nestle into a corner. It was a comforting picture.

My mother-in-law passed away in February here in our home. She had one of those fleece blanketa that you buy the fabric and put together. I wrapped up in it and would leave it on the sofa. I came in one night and found our little dog Molly curled up on top of it. I scolded her and made her get down. Moved the blanket to my recliner. Again, I got up and found her on it. I finally decided to put it in her bed. My mil would be pleased and it sure made Molly happy.

The prizes your offered these past weeks have been great, but I think I enjoyed the questions that you asked. They were some really cool ones.

  37. Tina b December 12, 2008 at 2:01 pm #

talking and reading the posts. makes me feel less alone this holiday season

  38. Nicole December 12, 2008 at 2:02 pm #

I’ve enjoyed learning about new authors and it has renewed my interest in Samhain.

  39. Linda December 12, 2008 at 2:05 pm #

Well, so much for reading carefully. I thought you said tell us which comment you liked best. So, here is my REAL answer.

I’ve enjoyed reading the long list of prizes you’re giving away each day. They are more than generous. Though I’ve enjoyed leaving comments and answering questions (though I’ve not won – boohoo), I loved searching for the Kindle book covers. You can’t beat a good scavenger hunt.

Thanks for having such a wonderful Christmas kick off contest. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  40. Karen December 12, 2008 at 2:19 pm #

The prizes, of course, have been excellent. But perhaps the best was being forced to explore several other sites and dig thru them, discovering some new authors in the process.

  41. Rhonda Barnes December 12, 2008 at 2:21 pm #

This contest has been like having a little bit of Christmas every day! It’s been interesting reading your comments and the prize packs are awesome! Thanks so much for hosting this and have a very Merry Christmas!

    Blessings,
    Rhonda :0)

  42. ann marie December 12, 2008 at 2:29 pm #

Thank you Angie for the great contests, and taking the time to put this all together. What I liked about the 12 days is getting to meet you, I now have a very long TBR pile going and your prizes are great. Have a happy holiday, and take care.

  43. Marybelle December 12, 2008 at 2:31 pm #

What I like best is that you’ve helped me find new authors of interest. I found some great stuff looking through the sites for the Kindle contests and was interested in some of the titles listed as prizes that I went looking for those author’s websites as well.

I’d also like to add that my favorite Holiday Hell Day was yesterday because I tend to get depressed during the holidays. Yesterday I sat here and thought about what to do to cheer someone up. I didn’t post it, but I contacted several people yesterday. My aunt, who’s a single mom with a teenage boy, is working full time and going to school. Money’s tight and she’s stressed about the holiday and the fact that she might be pregnant. A cousin of mine is pregnant and having complications. I have two in-laws dealing with cancer. One of my aunts was diagnosed with ALS and has almost lost her ability to talk. In the midst of all that I stopped to realize that, while I have problems, I’ve got things pretty good too.

  44. Rebecca Schwartz December 12, 2008 at 2:35 pm #

I enjoy reading other peoples responses, and I loved learning all of the new Holiday recipes!!! I am going to try and cook some this year!

Thank you for holding all of these contests!

    xoxo

  45. Anne Clark December 12, 2008 at 2:39 pm #

I have loved hearing about new authors. My TBR mountain has dwindled but now I have some new things to build it back up. Plus I loved reading about your dog devouring your cake..Mine ate the bourbon balls and was drunk for hours..then sick everywhere…yes good times.

  46. Lisa Freeman December 12, 2008 at 2:47 pm #

The prizes of course! Really I like the day we all had to do something nice for somebody else!

  47. Debbie Ellison December 12, 2008 at 3:00 pm #

I really enjoyed searching the author’s websites and by doing that catching all the wonderful awards and reviews they received.

It made me feel great that they were getting positive feedback for their efforts because I can’t even begin to count how many hours of enjoyment I have experienced through reading those stories.

How lucky we are to share this joy!!

    TY!

  48. Diana December 12, 2008 at 3:07 pm #

I’ve enjoyed the generosity of you and the authors who’ve offered these awesome prizes.

  49. robyn brodrick December 12, 2008 at 3:23 pm #

I enjoyed the ritual of logging on every morning and seeing what awaited me! It was very clever! Thank you!

  50. Tameka Green December 12, 2008 at 3:26 pm #

Well I’ve liked that you’ve had indivdual contest that even if you don’t win the gran prize you still might win a great book.

About Me

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy.
