I had a Bookeen Cybook (that I loved beyond all reason) but had issues with reliabillity. So when my third one broke, I decided to go for the Sony (as the Kindle hasn’t been lauched in the Uk yet…and what’s the point of a wireless device if you can’t use the wireless?)

Can I say I love it even more? I’m a certified Sony whore now. My favourite difference is the weight. The Cybook is very thin and lightweight but felt really fragile. (Coupled with the fact that it kept breaking!) The Sony is still thin and compact but slightly heaver and makes it feel sturdier, less likely to shatter on impact. However, I do find the e-ink screen darker on the Sony than the Cybook.

I also love Calibre and the fact that it’s really simple to change my metadata and it converts every-freakin-file format perfectly. Srsly, Sony really want to be buying it up and making some cash from it. Because the software they give with the reader? It’s just sad how bad it is.

Thanks, Angie. Very helpful, because looking at them side by side, makes me think the one I saw at Target just had a different setting to make it look darker. My Sony is on its way to arrive tomorrow. I can’t wait!

I think i like the size of the sony. my problem is the $$$ & whether ebooks are less expensive enough to help justify the cost in the long run. also…i just love books. The look, the feel, the smell.

Oh the jealousy!! Thanks for posting the pics. I’m leaning towarads the Sony I think because I had a Sony in my hot lil hands yesterday and briefly pondered not paying the property taxes for another month LOL. Good sense prevailed!
