I couldn’t attend BEA this year, but I was able to follow along thanks to the #BEA09 Twitter feed. It’s actually kind of interesting to follow along this way because you get a sense of the overall picture from a number of people, rather than just one person’s limited observations. Here’s what I got from [...]

Seussian Ode to Pralines I like pralines in the dark, I like pralines in a park. I will eat them on a boat, or even while crossing a moat. I can keep them in my purse, their sugary goodness makes me curse. I will savor them with a book, my “oh yes” face will be [...]

Comments Off

In addition to the regular auction still going for a critique from me, which ends in two days, today only there is a one day auction that includes a critique of a synopsis and first three chapters, as well as lunch with me at RWA for you and a guest, where we can talk about [...]

This weekend, I asked in both a post here and at Romance Divas for recommendations of books from small press. I didn’t limit by genre, but I did specify that people couldn’t recommend their own book, they had to have read the book (no recommending your friend’s book just because ) and that it had [...]

I’m ready to load some new books on my Sony (really, I have 100s of unread books on there, but what does that matter?) Here are the parameters: It has to be from a digital publisher, not from a large press publisher. I want to support small presses this weekend. It cannot be your own [...]

Look what I found last night that’s now available online! It’s the video of my presentation with Sarah Wendell of Smart Bitches, Malle Vallik of Harlequin and Kassia Krozser of Booksquare, Smart Bitches Women Read Ebooks. I’ve only watched the first few minutes, but I do plan on watching it again, to agonize over what [...]

Over at Romancing the Blog today, I share my answer to the question of what the most difficult part of my job is. I’ll bet you won’t guess my answer…and you might be a little surprised at just what I share. Go check it out!

I’m leaving town again. Yes, I did just get back from three weeks of traveling to North Dakota, Virginia and Florida. But I’m still leaving again. Thursday we’re off for a fun trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where Josh and I are meeting up with some of his longtime friends for a long weekend [...]

Buy my mad skills. (plz RT)

Comments Off

Or, better yet, buy my mad skills while donating to a worthy cause AND getting a tax write-off. It’s like…the trifecta of awesomeness. Right? It’s that time of year again, the Brenda Novak Auction, which raises money to benefit diabetes research. This is only my second year doing the auction, but I’ve been bidding in [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
