So when Angela asked for any volunteers to post while she was away, I happily volunteered because, hey, I’ve got a book coming out in print August 2009.  My happiness quickly deflated when she said “But, this can’t be a strictly promotional post.  It should be fun and informative.”  Ugh!  I had five days to [...]

So here I am, sitting in my living room, which is in chaos because we’re having a new floor fitted, and a new kitchen, thinking about the RWA conference and where I’d rather be. But the RWA Conference isn’t the only game in town. Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the annual conference [...]

I first started working for Samhain in about August of 2007. And, as all of us newbies are in the beginning, I was under Angie’s thumb. Very much so under her thumb. And for someone like me who likes to do things on my own, I hated it. Really hated it. I had to send [...]

(Edited to add: This is a guest post written by Shannon Stacey) You’ve seen the view from the Executive Editor of Samhain’s side of the desk here, but I thought today I’d give you a glimpse of the view from the other side. What’s it like, as an author, to go through the editing process? [...]

Or is it ‘me’? I forget, but hey. That’s why I have Angie! While she’s out partying with *sniff* all the cool kids, we’re the pathetic and forlorn Left Behinds. Every year when RWA rolls around, everyone who isn’t there stands around, kicking rocks. Well not this year, baby!! We’re having our own parties and conferences! [...]

So my friend Angie is attending the Romance Writer’s of America National Conference this week.  This year I’m not going and I have mixed emotions about it. I’ve been to this conference many times, and I both love and hate it for many reasons. Let me tell you why: Reasons I love the conference: I [...]

UPDATE: I had such a great day today, that I chose 2 Random winners! KATIEBABS and HEATHER, please use the CONTACT form on my website to email me your choice of book, and snail mail information. (And yes, Heather, as a Canadian, I don’t limit where I sent my prizes, so Australia is fine. ) [...]

About my blog! But I must admit, anything interesting I have to say recently has gone to Twitter. I’m gearing up to leave for RWA tomorrow and it’s pretty doubtful I’ll have much time to blog. So I’ve arranged a line-up of authors/editors to fill in for me. So this week I’ll have guest posts [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
