There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.
However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!
Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.
Looking for a little mood music for a slow dance with your schmoopy (Seinfeld fans will get the reference). Look no further. Amazon is offering a free download of Marvin Gaye‘s sexy slow groove, “Let’s Get it On” (I wonder if today it would have to be called “Let’s F***”. Making it seem a lot less sexy. Actually, saying let’s get it on, in retrospect, isn’t completely hot either. Huh.)
I’ve been talking about boinga today on Twitter. It’s my new Zen word. Boinga! If you don’t have small children, it’s unlikely you know what Boinga is, so I’ll share…
I’m sure many of you remember this Fergie song, London Bridge, since they played it every five minutes on the radio when it first released.
But what you might not have heard is the rock version done by Bowling for Soup. Oh man, LOVE it! I don’t think my husband expected me to like it quite so much when he showed it to me, but now I can’t get it out of my head. Tell me what you think. It’s fun if you watch at least a few seconds of the Fergie one to get a sense of comparison.
A few months ago there was a discussion about children’s songs on my mom’s group. I was in Australia and not really in a position to watch/listen to a lot of the songs but I remembered clicking on this one and thinking it might be fun. So I asked about it again this week so I could hunt it down. My new favorite “children’s” song. If you’re a mom, you’ll probably enjoy it. The group is a Christian acapella children’s group called Go Fish. I bought Party Like A Preschooler and we’re really enjoying it in the car. Though Brianna and Josh say Choo Choo Soul is still their favorite (you’ll recognize that group if you watch Disney Playhouse).
ETA: I suggest those of you with the editing gene not actually watch the video but just listen to the song, because there are a LOT of typos in the video, lolol.
He made me watch this video the other night and now I can’t get this song out of my head
I have to admit, the song is really catchy, and they sounded amazing doing it acoustic, which is kind of impressive, since some musicians require the polish that the studio gives. Not these guys. And his enjoyment and glee in the song? Killer.
Freakin’ Disney. I bought Brianna this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cd at Amazon (actually I bought the MP3 version for instant gratification) and one of the songs on that cd is now permanently embedded in my brain. “Your Library” by Ludwig Von Drake. Click on the song title to hear a sample (it’s really a catchy song, especially for a bibliophile).
First, I'm blogging about multiple times a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press.
You can also find me two or three times a week at Whipped Out, where I'm talking food, recipes, crafts, cookbooks, and menus.
And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other).
