Sons of Anarchy

Posted on November 27th, 2008 by Angie

Did anyone watch the first season of Sons of Anarchy? The season finale was last night and I’d love to hear your thoughts. This show broke my heart with last week’s episode and I’m not even a faithful watcher (it’s “Josh’s” show and I just end up being sucked in if I’m in the room). So…anyone else out there want to gossip about the show?

David Tennant to say farewell to Doctor Who

Posted on October 29th, 2008 by Angie

Waaaah! I never thought I’d like him as Doctor Who, but I really love him now and I’m going to miss him. It will be interesting to see who they get next.

We’ll see five more specials with him in them and then see a new Doctor in 2010.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7698200.stm

You’re not leaving immediately – you’ve got another year for the specials. Can you tell us about that?

We’ve already shot the Christmas special for this year called The Next Doctor, which in the circumstances is perhaps a more intriguing title than it was before. We see the 10th Doctor meeting another Doctor.

And then in January we’ll film four more specials, which will be screened throughout next year, and they’ll be the four last stories that I do.

I don’t quite know when they’ll go out, but they’ll go out sometime throughout 2009.

Gemini Division

Posted on September 2nd, 2008 by Angie

Time porn, you know you want some more. Here’s another daily way to waste time. Only a few minutes each day, though. If you like the SciFi channel, X-Files, or unique science fiction, this webshow is for you.

Thanks to a mention in Entertainment Weekly (love that magazine) I went in search of Gemini Division last night. Per Wikipedia: Gemini Division is an American science fiction series of five-to-seven minute long webisodes created by Electric Farm Entertainment which went into production in March 2008. Based on an original story by Brent Friedman the online series was developed by Joshua Stern. The show will air on NBC as part of their online content lineup in August 2008 beginning Monday, August 18, 2008.[1] The series stars Rosario Dawson

Since it only started on August 18, and they’re only releasing two “real” episodes a week as far as I can tell, with the 6th episode releasing today, now’s a good time to “catch up”. It will take you only about a half hour. And then just three to five minutes every day. Look at it as a smoke break. Here’s the story:

An NYPD undercover vice cop, Anna Diaz is used to walking the thin blue line between truth and fiction. One slip, her cover blown, and she could end up dead. That’s why she always keeps the world at arm’s length. That is, until she meets Nick Korda…

Nick is everything Anna ever wanted. For the first time in her life, she finally feels safe enough to lower her guard, be herself. So safe, in fact, Anna’s beginning to wonder if this guy’s too good to be true. Especially after he whisks her to Paris for a romantic getaway and pops the question. Though Anna can’t deny her feelings for Nick, she also can’t ignore those warning signs about his business, his health and his past – causing her to doubt whether or not this man is truly the person he claims to be. But before she can get the answers she needs to commit, Anna witnesses Nick’s gruesome murder…

Determined to bring the people responsible to justice, Anna discovers Nick was not the man she thought – in fact, he wasn’t a man at all. Nick Korda was a “Simulant” – a bio-engineered life form – connected to a global conspiracy involving covert military operations, bizarre genetic experiments… and a mysterious organization known as GEMINI DIVISION.

The creation of writer/producer Brent V. Friedman, GEMINI DIVISION stars Rosario Dawson (Sin City, Eagle Eye) and is produced by Jeff Sagansky and Stan Rogow of Electric Farm Entertainment in conjunction with NBC Universal and Sony International.

Week 1 Bundle (episodes 1 and 2)

Week 2 Bundle (episodes 3 and 4 with some extra “notes to self”)

Episode 5 is the most current episode, so it plays on the home page, but Episode 6 is supposed to release at some point today.

Who’d have thought it…

Posted on February 7th, 2008 by Angie

I’ve been in a serious reading slump. Not that I’m not reading, but all my reading for almost 6 weeks has been almost exclusively work–edits and submissions (though I did read and finish Right Here, Right Now by HelenKay Dimon. Fabulous dialogue!). I have some great books that I want to read but my motivation, at the end of the work day, has been lacking. I thought maybe I was going to have to wait until the next JD Robb book before I found my groove–I will come out of any reading slump for a new Eve and Roarke story.

But then I saw this on Meljean Brook’s blog and…tada! Who’d have thought that fanfic would be what brought me out of my reading slump? I don’t normally read fanfic, don’t seek it out on the internet and don’t actually think I’ve ever read more than a paragraph or two of any fanfiction before. But for Firefly, for a novel length story, I made an exception. And I’m so glad I did. Reading this book is transporting–it’s like watching the show, being there with the characters. I’m not a huge TV fan, I watch Doctor Who and Torchwood, loved Buffy, La Femme Nikkita and Sex and the City. And Firefly. And I mourn Firefly. I want it to come back. Even now, years later. Of all the shows I’ve loved and lost *smirk* this is the one that I feel ended way before its time. Bring Firefly back. *sob*

If you love Firefly like I do, check out the Firefly fanfic by Stephen Brust. You won’t be sorry you did.
