I know, I was supposed to announce the contest winners last week. Sorry! Thanks to those who provided gentle reminders. So, without further ado and thanks to the genius of random.org, I have a main prize winner and two smaller winners. For the consolation prizes, which is a box of goodies (sorry, no HQN bag): [...]

Four years ago, I joined a new, not-yet-heard of publishing company called Samhain as its very first editor. I later became executive editor and enjoyed watching as it grew, as readers and authors discovered the company and in turn helped it grow. Over the course of those four years, Samhain has released just over 1000 [...]

*contest is closed, we have a name! Winner will be announced this week!* Have you ever had the urge to do something a little different than what you’re doing now? Or to share your love of something? That’s what Jane Litte of Dear Author, Sarah Wendell from Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, and I are doing. [...]

Sorry I didn’t get to this yesterday. I decided to go ahead and let Random.org choose my winner, because I just couldn’t decide from so many good first lines. I wish I was seeing some of these entries! But since there can be only one… Suzanne Lazear, you can thank our anonymous benefactor for your [...]

Two weeks ago I advertised I was doing Golden Heart critiques for a fee. The response was somewhat overwhelming (and flattering) and I had a number of aspiring authors contract with me for Golden Heart critiques. But I also had someone, who wishes to remain anonymous, who felt the fee for the critique might have [...]

In honor of Kate, and the extreme love and genuine enthusiasm she had for the authors and books she edited, I’m giving away a copy each of two of Kate’s releases today from one of her authors, HelenKay Dimon. I have no doubt today is indeed a bittersweet day for HelenKay. To enter to win [...]

I’m guesting on the Risky Regencies blog today, where they did a Q&A with me. Head over and leave a comment (ask a question, show some love) because one random commenter will win a prize pack from me.

Seussian Ode to Pralines I like pralines in the dark, I like pralines in a park. I will eat them on a boat, or even while crossing a moat. I can keep them in my purse, their sugary goodness makes me curse. I will savor them with a book, my “oh yes” face will be [...]

Or something equally silly? I’ve promised to choreograph, video and upload a ridiculous victory dance if I get first place in the DABWAHA brackets. I’m in first now but am about to be knocked out with these next rounds. Before 6pm I need you to vote for Hunger Games! After 6pm I need you to [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).

  • "if your feelings got hurt in the past, I apologize for it". Ugh, someone tell Senior that's a cop out apology. ~ 3 hours ago
  • Yes. It doesn't stress me out like American Chopper does. RT @AbZurdity: @angelajames In his defense, American Ninja is AWESOME. ~ 3 hours ago
  • And will someone who watches American Chopper pls tell me why Junior's wife has to be on stage when they reveal bikes? That's weird. ~ 3 hours ago
  • Of course, we're also watching American Ninja. And basketball. The curse of letting a man have the remote. ~ 3 hours ago
