I’m ready to load some new books on my Sony (really, I have 100s of unread books on there, but what does that matter?) Here are the parameters: It has to be from a digital publisher, not from a large press publisher. I want to support small presses this weekend. It cannot be your own [...]

Snuggle up with my Sony Reader and my copy of Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs. Please hold all my calls as I will be unavailable until I finish. Also, as a random aside, cocktail parties? Freak me out. I’m always afraid I’ll end up standing in the corner with no one to talk to for [...]

Which do you use, if either? As I’ve said previously, I won’t use Shelfari so let’s leave them out of this convo. They lost me when they first started, with the terrible spamming of email. I’ve been using LibraryThing widgets in my sidebar, I can’t remember why I decided to use them instead of Goodreads. [...]

Via SciFiGuy Eos is offering a free look at the first book in Lois McMaster Bujold’s Sharing Knife series. I’m a big fan of these books and highly recommend them to fantasy readers. You can read the whole book by clicking on the browse inside image below. It doesn’t appear, unfortunately, that you can download [...]

J. Kaye is hosting a whole list of reading challenges for 2009 if you’re looking for one. You’ll need to take a peek at the right sidebar for the full list.

(and other random links) If you’re interested at all in ebook technology and ebooks, you must go read this blog post by Kassia Kroszer at Booksquare. Kassia is another of those frighteningly intelligent and savvy people who intimidate me (I mentioned a few others here). This post made me want to kiss her square on [...]

I have no idea how I’ve missed this blog/website before, but just in case any of you out there have also missed it, I’m passing it along. I stumbled along it thanks to Google Alerts. You must check it out because it’s got some amazing resources including a monthly “newsletter” that lists paranormal/fantasy news and [...]

I’m looking forward to some books releasing in 2009, but there are two I’m particularly excited about. The first is this one: Beyond Heaving Bosoms: The Smart Bitches’ Guide to Romance Novels I’ve always both admired and been intimidated by Sarah and Candy’s intelligence, sense of humor and just plain chutzpah (the only other person [...]

Cookbook, craft or other non-fiction type of book? I have some Barnes and Noble gift cards to spend, and I really don’t need to buy any more fiction books right now (though I do have a list that I’m eagerly anticipating for 2009 and will share this week). So I’m going to buy a new [...]

Maybe you noticed (or not) that my library thing widget hasn’t been reflecting new books I’ve been reading. That’s because Library Thing only has print books and I’ve been reading ebooks, specifically Samhain ebooks. Here’s what I’ve read in the past week: Collision Course by K.A. Mitchell Immovable object? Meet the irresistible force. Paramedic Aaron [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).

  • Yes. It doesn't stress me out like American Chopper does. RT @AbZurdity: @angelajames In his defense, American Ninja is AWESOME. ~ 3 hours ago
  • And will someone who watches American Chopper pls tell me why Junior's wife has to be on stage when they reveal bikes? That's weird. ~ 3 hours ago
  • Of course, we're also watching American Ninja. And basketball. The curse of letting a man have the remote. ~ 3 hours ago
