Brianna often spouts off a lot of funny one-liners that I share on Twitter, but sometimes our conversations are too long to share on Twitter. This morning, she got me pretty good. Last night she had swimming lessons, and I’d brought a long-sleeve black rashguard for her (because the pool is COLD) and some random [...]

I promised myself on February 1st I’d turn my attention to breathing life back into my poor blog. It was never my intention to be absent this long, but my energies, by necessity, had to be focused elsewhere. However, I have no intention of closing down this blog or letting it die, so I’m going [...]

Something else exciting happened! This weekend, we took a trip to Washington D.C. for the weekend. We’d gotten tickets to the Metropolitan Food Show, and to see Guy Fieri give a presentation (he was an absolute riot, really. Very funny guy and I’m so glad we got to see him). I got us a room [...]

I don’t do a lot of Brianna posts here anymore, but this conversation was a little too long for Twitter, and it tickled me so much, I had to share. B: “Phew, something stinks outside the truck window. What is that? Ohhh, I know, it must be the farmer’s plants…they put special stink stuff on [...]

All great conversations start on Twitter. No really, these days they do. I thank Twitter for most of my blog topics these days. A few months ago I was researching the Leapfrog Tag reader on Amazon, and reading the reviews. Brianna is a huge bookworm, I’m not sure WHERE she gets that from but she [...]

This was fun. I grabbed this from my friend Penny’s blog. Ask your kid the questions and write them down exactly how they respond. 1. What is something mom always says to you? “No” 2. What makes mom happy? “Uh…something that you do that your mom says” 3. What makes mom sad? “Um, that you [...]

Confession: I’m completely exhausted and only the thought of failing out only the second week of the Friday Confessional kept me doing it. Brianna has the flu and was up all night last night throwing up. After the second time (and second bedding change) I slept with her, nearly got barfed on the third time [...]

We had swimming lessons last night and sadly, my daughter was “that kid”. Oh, you know the one I mean. The kid that’s bratty and disruptive to the class and the other kids trying to learn. The one that doesn’t listen to the teacher, doesn’t pay attention and goofs off every time his back is [...]

Two things happened a few weeks ago. First, I got this amazing free sample from Muir Glen. It was four cans of tomatoes delivered in this beautiful wood crate. Very fancy. I was impressed. In the box was fire roasted tomatoes and organic tomatoes. I use a lot of canned tomatoes, so I was excited [...]

Holiday Hangover Originally uploaded by Angela James I guess it’s been a long two weeks of vacation for Brianna. This is her around 5pm tonight, watching TV on the couch. She was drifting off but told me she was just “blinking her eyes”. I think she’s ready to get back to daycare and her routine. [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
