S’mores brownies

Comments Off

I was supposed to post this recipe over a month ago, but as we can all tell, I haven’t been blogging much! I’ve made this s’mores brownie recipe twice now, and these brownies are amazing. I took them to the Toronto Harlequin office recently and they didn’t last more than a day. They sound really [...]

Sometimes you just want a simple, easy, delicious dessert that you can whip up. Freelance editor Mallory Braus shared this one with the Carina Press editors recently. I bestow upon you the fabulous recipe for Lemonade Pie: 1- graham cracker crust 1- 8oz container of lowfat coolwhip 1- 0.23 oz packet of lemon or lime [...]

I don’t remember exactly when we started our Christmas traditions, but there are a few that we have: we always go out to dinner on Christmas Eve, and then to the local park to take the tram around the Christmas lights. On Christmas Day, Brianna and I always wear matching pajamas, and I make some [...]

I stumbled on this recipe last year on the Our Best Bites blog and decided to add it to my holiday baking. I’m not sure how the people I sent this to felt about it, but my family loves this stuff. My brother hovered over the first batch I made this year and I had [...]

Okay, so technically this isn’t baking, but…whatever, you get the idea. This recipe came from my friend Trish, who brought them for the “cookie” exchange at our annual Christmas party. I didn’t actually participate in the cookie exchange but I plan the party so a few people usually bring me cookies anyway (yum!). There’s a [...]

I discovered this recipe thanks to Tastespotting a few months ago. I think what moved me to make it was that I love chocolate cookies but have never found THE recipe that calls to me. As soon as I made this recipe, I knew it was going to be my favorite, the one I turned [...]

First, I’m sad to announce that we’ve decided to disband Whipped Out. Apparently, the three of us are too busy to update multiple blogs. Who knew? I’m going to be doing two things: 1) porting all of the recipes from there to here and 2) installing a new theme on this blog and updating the [...]

Gingerbread Chocolate Cookies

Comments Off

This post was written by Sarah of SmartBitches. Every year, I make these cookies for Hubby. They’re labor-intensive and include putting the cookie dough in the fridge not once but twice, plus boiling water and grating ginger and whacking the crap out of some chocolate and yet they are so freaking good it’s worth it [...]

**Note: I take absolutely no credit for this recipe. It was posted on the parenting board I frequent, and I Googled it to see if I could find a source. It fascinated me to discover that it appears to be a fairly recent recipe, though I couldn’t track down the exact origin (I probably could, [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).

  • And will someone who watches American Chopper pls tell me why Junior's wife has to be on stage when they reveal bikes? That's weird. ~ 3 hours ago
