Today and tomorrow Samhain Publishing, myself and ten authors are being featured on RomanceNovelTV.com I was fortunate to do a video interview with the fabulous Marisa last October while at NJRW, and part of that is up now, so wander over, check out my interview, my blog post and those of the authors in the [...]

Confession: I’m completely exhausted and only the thought of failing out only the second week of the Friday Confessional kept me doing it. Brianna has the flu and was up all night last night throwing up. After the second time (and second bedding change) I slept with her, nearly got barfed on the third time [...]

Okay, not really. I was actually talking to Sarah and Jane for their third “Smart Authors, Dear Bitches” podcast. We talk about digital publishing and Samhain, tips for aspiring authors, as well as what we’re looking for in submissions. It’s a short podcast, just 15 minutes long, so check it out! Smart Authors, Dear Bitches [...]

(and other random links) If you’re interested at all in ebook technology and ebooks, you must go read this blog post by Kassia Kroszer at Booksquare. Kassia is another of those frighteningly intelligent and savvy people who intimidate me (I mentioned a few others here). This post made me want to kiss her square on [...]

I’ve had this conversation a few times recently, but I’m finally ready to say it in public: what factors are you considering when you choose a pen name? I have to ask, because honestly, I’ve seen some pretty ridiculous pen names that make me wonder why I would buy or contract a book from that [...]

Early last week I had a phone conversation with one of my newer authors. She was telling me about all these partials she had going, and that she just didn’t know what to work on. Finally, at the end of the conversation, I told there was no way I was going to tell her which [...]

While everyone else has been discussing the serious issue of Amazon and POD, I’ve been over on my playgroup board discussing this article about a woman who was allegedly forced to remover her nipple rings before being allowed through airport security*, and have been obsessively watching the Woot Off for a Scooba and Random Bags [...]

A few weeks ago I talked about a quirk I have in regards to dialogue tags. This week, it’s two words. The end. I’ve seen it twice in the past week. In the first book, the last paragraph is some spicy sex. The hero is plunging his cock into the heroine. And then I read… [...]

This post today on the Fictionwise Yahoo group nearly made my eyes bug out of my head. Both that there are publishers out there who are so criminally ripping authors off like this, and that there are people out there who can work a computer but don’t do their research to find out about the [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).

  • Yes. It doesn't stress me out like American Chopper does. RT @AbZurdity: @angelajames In his defense, American Ninja is AWESOME. ~ 3 hours ago
  • And will someone who watches American Chopper pls tell me why Junior's wife has to be on stage when they reveal bikes? That's weird. ~ 3 hours ago
  • Of course, we're also watching American Ninja. And basketball. The curse of letting a man have the remote. ~ 3 hours ago
