Okay, so technically this isn’t baking, but…whatever, you get the idea. This recipe came from my friend Trish, who brought them for the “cookie” exchange at our annual Christmas party. I didn’t actually participate in the cookie exchange but I plan the party so a few people usually bring me cookies anyway (yum!). There’s a [...]

Mexican Goulash (recipe)

Weeks (and weeks) ago I asked on Twitter for some hamburger ideas. I was…fresh out and I had hamburger that had to be used. Someone suggested Goulash, which I just knew my family wouldn’t eat, but when I went searching for a recipe for it, I found one for Mexican Goulash on allrecipes.com. Right up [...]

Note: I imported all of my posts from Whipped Out but I’ve been trying to go through and grab tutorials and some of the recipes that I didn’t post, so we still have them. This was one of those. Hi, y’all! Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and Joyous [Insert your Holiday of Preference]! I am a [...]

First, I’m sad to announce that we’ve decided to disband Whipped Out. Apparently, the three of us are too busy to update multiple blogs. Who knew? I’m going to be doing two things: 1) porting all of the recipes from there to here and 2) installing a new theme on this blog and updating the [...]

Black Orchid Martini: Get Your Drink On

Last week I was in Columbus, Ohio for the Romantic Times Booklovers convention. I have to admit, I wasn’t too convinced about going to Columbus, but I was proven wrong in a big way. The city is lovely and charming, the downtown area we were in was well-developed and had plenty to offer in the [...]

This is a recipe I discovered three years ago, when I used to subscribe to the Betty Crocker Dinner Made Easy newsletter, and got dinner ideas delivered to my inbox. Now, my inbox is so overwhelming I don’t get fun stuff like that anymore. I usually keep tortillas, cheddar cheese and a large bag of [...]

Knockoff Baked Beans

Spring is here and I’m starting to think about grilling and all the side dishes that go with it. One of Josh’s favorite restaurants is Famous Dave’s. He loves BBQ and especially BBQ ribs. When I was out of town about a year ago, somehow he got Brianna to eat and fall in love with [...]

This is one of the first recipes I ever posted on my personal blog four years ago. At the time I posted it, it was one of Brianna’s favorite meals even at only 1 1/2. Four years later? It’s still one of her favorite meals, despite the fact that she won’t eat some of the [...]

Last week I got a pork loin on sale at the grocery store, but had no idea how I was going to cook it. Since I hadn’t done any pre-planning, I really didn’t have time for marinating so I put out a desperate call to my Twitter followers: Do you have a good recipe for [...]

I admit that this is a recipe I made up myself. Years ago, when Josh and I were first dating we used to buy a kit in the refrigerator section that made the best Mexican casserole. Although, since they discontinued making it, perhaps we were the only ones who thought so. But we so often [...]

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
