Since I’m no longer with Samhain, I’ve deleted this call. If you want to submit an angel or demon story to me, I’d love to see them, any length, any heat level. It broke my heart to leave this anthology behind. You can send them to me at Quartet Press: submissions@quartetpress.com

Sometimes I put out an anthology call and I’m going to be doing one of those very soon, but in asking for ideas for my next anthology, I realized I would have liked to have gotten some holiday novellas. Historically, I have saved my December release spots for novellas, often erotic romance novellas and generally [...]

I was interviewed by Jesse Wave at her blog. This is probably the most in-depth interview I’ve ever given because her questions were quite varied and required some longer answers from me. If you have any curiosity about the inner workings of Samhain, my thoughts on digital publishing in general, and some genre questions, you’ll [...]

I had pre-posted a blog over on the Samhain blog but am just now getting a chance to log in and post about it here. If you’re interested in knowing what genres sell well and which aren’t quite as popular, head over and give it a read. For those following along, I’m currently in the [...]

As announced on Twitter this morning, I’m super excited to tell you that Samhain is going to start offering our front and backlist in DRM-free EPUB format starting in May. We’ve got a good jump on this, we just need to give our over-worked formatter time to get it all together. Many of you know [...]

Okay, I have no shame…

I’m going to beg for votes. But in this case, it’s okay because voting isn’t necessarily about having read the books. So I don’t feel bad. Much. I’ll move on from that though If you’re not following the Dear Author/Smart Bitches DABWAHA book “tournament” you must go follow the voting. And while you’re there, if [...]

What (Samhain) editors want

At Samhain Publishing, despite all the great books on our current publishing schedule, some of the editors have spaces to fill. They’re looking for talented authors and quality manuscripts where “it’s all about the story”. For details of the editors actively looking to acquire manuscripts, and the type of manuscripts they’d love to see, check [...]

All of the articles I wrote in the Epublishing series are now live here on my blog for easier reference and linking (in case anyone would have a reason to link to them). If I missed any topics, please let me know and I’ll continue the series.

About Me

Angela James

There is nothing worse than writing a bio. And writing one for your blog sidebar? Blech. Maybe you landed here via Google, followed me from Twitter (does that make you a stalker?) or maybe we met at a conference or you clicked a link from a comment I made at a blog you visited. Hopefully whatever I said didn't make you so mad you came looking for a picture to throw darts at (yep, that's me up above, in my favorite cowboy hat) but instead drove you to find out more about the amazingly witty and intelligent person behind the amazingly witty and intelligent comment.

However you found me, who you found is Angela James, executive editor of Carina Press, Harlequin's new digital-first press. I'm passionate about digital publishing, my mission is to drag people to the digital dark side, one reader (and author) at a time. I'm also Brianna's mommy. At my blog you'll get an odd mix of personal and professional posts about parenting, publishing, books, cooking, sewing and life in general. Come back often, comment frequently and go green—buy ebooks!

Please note that this is my personal blog and my opinions are neither that of Harlequin, nor representative of their opinions.

Find Me Here

First, I blog once or twice a week at theCarina Press blog, talking about the job, the authors, the books and other things Carina Press. And, of course, you can always find me on Twitter. Or Facebook, if you prefer (mostly the same content, one feeds the other). I also run the Carina Press Twitter and Facebook accounts. Social media, it's where it's at (well, it's where I'm at, anyway).
