I’m going to start with news that’s not mine, but belongs to a good friend- Jaci Burton. After a week of fretting and threatening to puke and hyperventilating, Jaci’s agent Deidre Knight of The Knight Agency, sold Jaci’s paranormal book Surviving Demon Island to Bantam Dell in a two book deal. Do you ever have that feeling of excitement and pride and love for someone that feels like it’s going to bust right out of your chest? That’s how I’ve felt ever since Jaci shared her news. Anyone will tell you that she is one of the most genuinely nice and caring people that you will ever meet, even if she is one of The Bitches ๐Ÿ˜‰ She’s worked hard, written some fabulous books (read Dream On, it packs an emotional punch you won’t soon forget), and gotten her name and her work recognized by reviewers, fellow authors, and fans. Congratulations to J on the making of a dream. Bask in the moment, babe. You deserve every moment.

The second part of the Big News post is mine. I was teasing you all a couple days ago about something I had in the works (again, I’m not pregnant). It’s nowhere along the lines of Jaci’s news but it’s exciting to me. With the encouragement of a few friends, I have decided to begin a proofing and critique service for writers, Get It Write. I’ve worked with Ellora’s Cave for a year and a half now, as well as several of their authors and NCP authors on an individual basis. I haven’t charged for my service, because I was learning the ropes and refining my skills. But I’ve gotten very good at it and know this is something I can use to earn extra money to supplement Josh’s paycheck. So, if you know an author- published or aspiring- in search of a kickass proofer and critiquer to help them polish their manuscript, send them my way, would you? They’ll thank you later ๐Ÿ˜‰
