Title: In the Groove
Author: Pamela Britton
Year published: February 2006
Why did you get this book?
Actually, I bought it for Alyssa. I owed her some books and this was one of three I picked up for her. But since I’m a Nascar fan I decided to read it before passing it on (don’t worry Alyssa, the book is still like new, you’d never have known if I wasn’t blogging it!)
Do you like the cover? Sure, it’s nothing fancy but it’s part of HQ’s new Nascar line and it does have the Nascar logo prominently displayed on it.
Did you enjoy the book? I did enjoy the book. Some of you will understand what I mean when I say it was very Harlequin. It was a bit…formulaic and there was no sex (did I say none) as they cut the scene. I miss the sex, not because I want to read it for the sex itself, but because I think a lot of connecting, intimacy and emotion is portrayed during the sex scenes and this book was missing that connection, if you understand what I mean. Ther was no sense of real intimacy between the characters for me. But the interaction between the characters was fun and witty at times. This book isn’t going to win any awards or make people chatter, but it was an easy, enjoyable read and it didn’t make me want to toss it at the nearest wall.
Was the author new to you and would you read something by this author again? This author is actually new to me. I do have something by her on my TBR shelf and I think it’s actually the prequel to this book (the story for some secondary characters that are featured) and I will definitly be reading it.
Are you keeping it or passing it on? duh. passing it on 😉 But even if I hadn’t bought it for her, I’d still be passing it on.
Anything else? It was suggested to me that because the book features the Nascar “brand” it may be that HQ has an agreement with Nascar that there be no sex in the book. I’d be interested to know if that’s the case and if readers can expect a similar “formula” to be followed in books bearing the Nascar logo.
