I actually read 15 books in February. I forgot to add Crazy Cool by Tara Janzen to the sidebar. I read it on Monday.
I wasn’t a big fan of the first book, Crazy Hot. There were some things about it that just didn’t work for me. I’ve had Crazy Cool on my TBR pile for awhile and I didn’t buy it, but got it from Paperback Swap, since I wasn’t “crazy” (ha ha) about the first one. But I was trying to clear some room on my romantic suspense shelf because there was no room for new books coming in, so I pulled out Crazy Cool, The Assassin, and To Die For.
Crazy Cool: I liked it much better than the first one, for whatever reason. There are still things about these books that don’t click with me, mostly some of the secondary character relationships seem awkward (like the relationship between Nikki and Kid) and don’t really click for me or make me feel drawn into their experiences. But I enjoyed the fast-paced action of the story and it was an easy read, which I needed. I enjoyed it enough that I ordered the next book, Crazy Wild, from Amazon and it’s now on my short stack of books TBR. This is Creed’s story and I was intrigued by it.
The Assassin by Rachel Butler: This was one of my DNF books for the month of February but it’s also the one book I’m holding on to and will try again. It didn’t grab me right away, but I thought the writing was good. I think it was my mood, not the book, so I’ll give it a second chance some time in the future.
To Die For by Linda Howard: So, I admit it, I like Linda Howard. I own all of her books and I enjoy her easy writing style. If I had to guess, I’d bet there are people out there who hated this book for the same reason I adored it–the heroine. I could completly understand her brain and how her mind works. This was another easy read, fast-paced and fun.
