When did Liz Maverick become the face of erotic romance? Recently there have been a slew of articles and several tv news reports about the rising popularity of erotic romance and its move into mainstream publishing. In at least 3 of the pieces (I linked to two above) I can think of off the top of my head, Liz Maverick has been interviewed. Now, don’t get me wrong, I met Liz Maverick last year and I found her to be cute as a button, very personable and charming, but as a reader of erotic romance, Liz Maverick would not EVER have come to my mind as the person I thought best to speak about the trend of erotic romance into mainstream publishing. Has Liz Maverick ever written erotic romance before her story with Avon? I’m wondering why the media chose her as the erotic romance trend expert?

I guess I would have thought it would be more…real…if they had chosen to interview those authors who’ve actually grown with the erotic romance trend, who’ve seen it’s popularity grow and explode (and experienced on their paychecks too *cough*Elizabeth Bevarly take note*cough*) The authors who started with Ellora’s Cave and made the move to NY publishing when the mainstream pubs sat up and took notice. I’ll bet most readers of erotic romance would name some of the same that I will; Cheyenne McCray, Lora Leigh, Jaci Burton, Shiloh Walker. Those are the names that are the face of erotic romance and it’s popular explosion and move into mainstream.

Am I the only one who’s noticed that the media has, by and large, mostly not seemed to do their homework?
