Today I went to one of those dinner making places, where they have the ingredients and “recipes” set up for you. All you have to do is go to each station and mix everything up, assemble it into it’s freezer containers and tada! You have six (or twelve depending on what option you took) meals ready for the freezer. And when you have a night where there’s no time to cook, you just pull the meal out and pop it in the oven, or cook it on the stove–maybe 15 minutes–and you’re done. How awesome is that?

Today, I got six meals plus a dessert. And an extra meal for signing up for next month 🙂

I got:

Southwestern Chicken Bake
Teriyaki Beef
Pot Roast
Chickan with Sun-dried tomato sauce
Texas Beef-Bean Bake
Zesty Cod Filets
Marinated Flank Steak
Bread Pudding (without raisins because…ick).

All of the meals have the instructions on a “sticker” attached to the package. If there’s an ingredient you or a family member don’t like, you can leave the ingredient out (see the bread pudding above). Or you can package the ingredient seperate (like spinach for one of the meals) and mix it in your portion but not your husbands. There were 14 meal options to choose from, you can buy sides (like candied squash or marinated peas) to go with, in individual sizes, 2-3 or 4-6 person sizes, and they also offer individual dessert options.

The whole experience was a lot of fun and it’s nice to know I have those options in the freezer and that I didn’t have to shop, prep or clean. As I said, I signed up for next month, but this time I did the 12 meal option (I get the 2-3 serving meals because we’re light eaters) and my total cost was $95. Way cheaper than a grocery shopping trip for the same 12 meals (which include beef, chicken and seafood dishes) and not to mention way cheaper than the cost if you include my time for grocery shopping, chopping, mixing and then washing the dishes. I’m sooo hooked!
