I wanted to write a post about first impressions and putting your best foot forward in business, but I couldn’t think of anything that didn’t end up sounding like a rant (which it was) or a venting session (which it also probably was). So instead, I put my own best foot forward (I think that’s my right foot in case you’re wondering) and deleted what I wrote.

I’ll leave you with something to ponder in its place: What should someone do to make a good first impression when applying for a job over the internet? Or even subbing or querying an editor/agent/publisher. Anything you can think of that you shouldn’t do?
