I’m copying the information from 2006 books read from it’s own page into a post, so I can start a 2007 books read page. Last night, since Josh and I are both sick, I rang in the new year by reading a book. The last book I read for 2006 was Valley of the Soul by Tamara Siler Jones. The first book of the new year? Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh. I’m not done but will be today (it’s too good to walk away from for long!) I’m excited to start tracking my 2007 reads because this year I’m not just going to keep a list on the separate blog page, I’m also going to use this amazing, scary, thorough spreadsheet that Rosario designed.

As I look back at my 2006 reads, here’s a few things I notice: I read only one non-fiction this year, Eats, Shoots, and Leaves (though I did start Jenna Jameson’s autobiography, I only got a few chapters in. It’s still sitting in a drawer in my bedside table). I read very few historicals that were first time reads, maybe two or three, while I re-read some old Julie Garwood historicals and that upped my historical count. Last, I read a lot of books in the paranormal romance or fantasy genre. That’s the majority of my reading for 2006 and where the main type of books that topped my favorites list.

So while I never make New Year’s resolutions for personal stuff (because I find it just as easy–and hard–to make a goal and stick to it at various times during the year. And more practical) I will make a few reading resolutions, since I’m tracking my reading on a yearly basis.

1. Read at least one historical a month
2. Read two non-fiction books in 2006
3. At least every other month (every month seems unlikely) choose a book from a genre outside my normal reading habits (more romantic suspense, thrillers, fiction, classics or chick-lit/mommy-lit, etc)

My list of 2006 reads (121 total, though I’m guessing there are some I forgot to track) after the jump. One thing to note, I started this list while I was still on Blogger and I haven’t ever gone through and changed the links to reviews to the actual links here, so if you’re curious to see a review of a book that’s got the old blogger link (those from January and February), you’ll need to use the search feature to the right. Sorry!
