I’m not going to hold out hope that anyone’s going to recognize my garbled remembering of lyrics, but I’ll give it a shot anyhow. Do you ever get a song from long, long ago come to your mind, but you only have vague recollections of it and the lyrics you “remember” are probably mostly inaccurate? Yeah, I’ve had one that’s been bugging me for awhile now.

It’s an eighties song and it’s kind of “spoken” by a man with a very deep voice. He’s recounting a bizarre dream he had and there’s some funky drumbeats that happen to show time passing or him “walking” in the dream.

In the dream, he starts out by walking through a field, I think.

He encounters a woman who speaks to him in a language he can’t understand (she speaks to me in a language I don’t understand) or something like that.

There’s a midget.

And the trumpets/or the trombones kick in (he says something like this, and then you hear them in the music).

That’s it. NOW do you see why I can’t remember it? I don’t remember it being a really popular song, though it did get radio play (since that’s how I heard it). I always think of it as having kind of a Twin Peaks type feel to it, since it’s bizarre like that. Like I said, I don’t really hold out hope anyone will be able to identify it for me, but I feel as though my brain is going to explode if I don’t get to hear this song so I can stop hearing lyrics in my head over and over again that I don’t even know!
