With only a week to go before it’s time to leave for RT, I find my attention divided. Half of me is doing all the stuff I need to do to get ready, the other half is trying to get work done. It’s hard planning a trip while trying to work!
I’ll be rooming with Jen Martin. She’s 1/2 of the Ashleigh Raine writing duo but also the Events director for Samhain Publishing. We’ve been friends for several years now so it’s no hardship sharing a room with her. So far in the past week we’ve: 1) put in a liquor order with one of the authors driving in so we have libations for the room and 2) put in a grocery order (peanut butter, jelly, bananas, bread, rice cakes, Coke, Dr. Pepper, plastic knives and cups) with another author so we have something to eat in the event of an emergency *snort* AND so we don’t have to pay outrageous hotel prices for soda. and 3) planned an outing for Friday afternoon because it’s my only free afternoon the entire week. Zoo or Space Museum, we haven’t decided, but somewhere.
On the homefront, my new luggage got delivered last week, I ordered a sleeve for my new laptop (which is too big for the pretty Samhain laptop case I have *sob*, got new shoes delivered and went shopping for a few last minute things. Last night I tried on some of my business clothes and realized I didn’t do myself any favors with the 10 pounds I gained over the winter. I’ll have to work on getting rid of that before RWA in July, but I don’t see any miracles happening in the week before RT. Sadly. I also arranged transportation to/from the hotel for some of the Samhain staff, so we don’t have to worry about how we’re going to get to/from the airport. One less stress down.
Now, I just need to finalize my clothing choices, get those to the dry cleaner, make a list of everything I need to remember, do laundry and…pack. Oh God I hate packing. Hate it, hate it, hate it.
In the meantime, there are still deadlines to meet and edits to be done. Busy week.
